“But it never seems to occur to you that you were in a coma for years and your kids grew up without a father, never getting a chance to make up for it.”

It wasn’t that he felt nothing for Ruby. 

And of course, when it came to his children, he felt the weight of being their father.

But as a father, he couldn’t bring himself to apologize to his own son. 

So, he simply turned his head away and said nothing. 

Alice saw the awkwardness and, in a way, felt relieved. 

She was grateful Oscar was still clearheaded enough to have already given those assets to her and Eric. 

If he’d waited a few more years, guilt would probably have eaten him alive and left him hopelessly soft. 

Now that everything was in her hands, even if Ruby wanted it, she’d have to think twice. 

“Since you’re getting divorced, you might as well make it clean.” 

Alice smiled lightly, putting on the air of someone being very considerate. 

“It’s about time anyway–why don’t we settle everything inside the old mansion now? That way, there won’t be any more disputes once the divorce is finalized. 

“Ms. Randall, you’re a businesswoman. You, of all people, should understand what’s at stake here.” 

The sarcasm in her voice was so strong you could practically smell it from across the ocean. 

Ruby’s face darkened again. 

She took a deep breath and looked back at Oscar. 

“We’ve been married for more than 20 years. We’ve been through some storms together, at least.” 

Her voice was calm and even. 

Talking about the past, she didn’t show the slightest hint of emotion. 

She really didn’t love him anymore; she really had let go.

“I don’t want anything else. All I ask is that you don’t make things hard for the children, and that you don’t go after Nolan Group” 

Oscar hadn’t expected her terms to be this simple. 

He was a little taken aback. 

Thinking of all the years behind them, he couldn’t help sighing, a bit of real feeling stirred up in his chest. 

“Everything here in Drakoria is yours. All of it–including this old mansion.”

How big a scene they made was none of Alice’s concern.
