Melanie picked her ear.“Prof. Calderon, what about your manners?”
You Winona’s face kept changing, and that anger just got stuck there.
Bethany and Evander felt really good about it.
Just as they thought!
Someone like Winona, only Melanie could handle.
Look how mad she was, her face kept switching from green to purple.
Like a walking color wheel.
But Bethany mostly just felt sorry for Melanie.
She didn’t expect that Melanie had such a hard time those years. Her precious granddaughter, whom she cherished so much, actually had to pick food from the trash to survive.
If it weren’t for Ruby, Mel probably wouldn’t even be in this world anymore, right?
Thinking of this, Bethany felt even more grateful to Ruby. She had to find a chance to thank Ruby properly.
“Melanie, you didn’t have to be so hostile to Mom. You hadn’t been with her for so many years, she just didn’t know how to get along
with you…”
Estelle hadn’t even started to say her piece when Melanie suddenly turned her head, “What? You want to lecture me?”
“I…” Estelle’s words suddenly got stuck in her throat, and she couldn’t say anything.
She saw with her own eyes when Simon was teaching Melanie and kicked her so hard she coughed up blood.
Melanie was acting like a lunatic. If she said one more word, she’d probably get kicked too.
Estelle stopped talking.
Simon, who had a bandage on, wanted to say something, but when he saw Melanie’s light glance, he quickly lowered his head and ate.
The wounds on my body hadn’t healed yet, so I didn’t want to get new ones for now.
Melanie was very satisfied.
She just walked over and sat down next to Bethany. She had already eaten and wasn’t hungry, but she still sat quietly by Bethany’s side and kept her company while she ate.
After dinner, Alberto, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly spoke up, “MR Group just launched a new project. This project is worth a billion. If we get it, the Rasmussen family’s position in Atlanta will go up another level. But MR Group’s requirements are really high. The company made over a dozen proposals, and all of them got rejected. Do any of you have a better idea?”
As soon as Alberto said that, Simon lowered his head even more.
The Rasmussen family always wanted to work with MR Group, but whether it was the small projects before or the big one worth a billion now, every proposal the Rasmussen family sent over got turned down.
For this project, he worked overtime for a whole month and came up with a plan he thought was perfect. But he didn’t expect that the

other side looked at it for less than two minutes and gave their answer: Nothing new, no value in working together.
This was a huge blow to him.
Alberto really valued this project, and Simon was pretty disappointed because his proposals kept getting rejected.
So, that’s why he let someone in the family handle the plan.
Whoever landed this contract could take the director position at the company.

“MR Group?” Melanie leaned back in her chair and spoke with interest.
Bethany glanced sideways, “Mel, do you want to give it a try?”
“Her?” Winona sneered, “Mom, are you out of your mind? Melanie, who was raised by a nightclub hostess and didn’t even finish high school, you think she could come up with a ten–billion project plan? The Rasmussen family had more than a dozen plans rejected in a row, and you want her to take some trash over there? Are you trying to completely ruin the Rasmussen family’s chances?”
Bethany’s face suddenly fell.
Estelle noticed she looked pale and quickly said, “Grandma, I know you love Melanie, but this isn’t a joke. This is about the company’s future. We can’t afford to make mistakes. Let’s wait for next time, when there’s a smaller project, and let her try then.”
Bethany looked at her with a blank face and didn’t say anything.
Estelle turned her head to look at Alberto and smiled, “Dad, I just graduated from high school, but my mom hired teachers to teach me business stuff since I was little. I can give this plan a try.”
“Heh.” Evander sneered, “My sister couldn’t have a chance to make mistakes, but you could? Estelle, you really have some nerve.”
Estelle felt a bit wronged, “Evander, I didn’t look down on Melanie, and I didn’t want to take risks. When Simon was working on the plan, I saw it. I thought I could do it. Plus, I’ve learned more business stuff than Melanie for sure. This is a one–billion project, we can’t just let her mess around with it, right?”
Evander was just about to snap back, but Estelle said, “I don’t know what I did wrong. Evander, you never liked me, but you have to believe me, I always meant well for the Rasmussen family.”
Estelle looked like she was about to cry, and Winona suddenly felt really sorry for her. She shouted angrily, “Evander, have you lost your mind enough yet? What level is Esty? And Melanie? Can she even compare to Esty? Don’t think you can bully Esty just because you’re
my son.”
“Hey, I really…” Evander was about to snap back, but Bethany suddenly slammed the table, “Have you two argued enough?”
The villa got quiet right away.
Bethany glanced at everyone with a gloomy look and said coldly, “Since this project was so important to the Rasmussen family, it
shouldn’t have been left to just one person. All the Rasmussen family’s grandkids, whether they’re capable or not, should come up with
a plan. The honor and disgrace of the Rasmussen family belong to everyone, not just one person. Got it?”
“Got it.”
The other grandchildren of the Rasmussen family all happily said okay.
They weren’t as promising as the people in the main family.

Good things always used to go to the main branch, but now everyone could join in, which meant they had a chance to be noticed.
Only Estelle kept her head down, her fingers clenched tightly into a fist.
How could she not know, Bethany just didn’t want her to get all the benefits herself.
Obviously, if she worked out the plan by herself, she might have gotten the project, and all the credit would have been hers.
But now everyone was asked to come up with a plan, and no matter whose plan got picked, the honor belonged to everyone.
Bethany really was biased!

“Mel!” Bethany held Melanie’s hand and smiled kindly, “It was okay if you didn’t know. It was good to learn more things with everyone. Grandma just wanted you to have something to do.”
Bethany’s attitude toward Melanie was just plain enviable.
But nobody dared to say anything.
Melanie was quiet for a moment and said, “Grandma wanted the Rasmussen family to get this project?”
Bethany said, “Of course we hoped for it, a billion–dollar project isn’t a small thing. No matter how good the Rasmussen family is, we still need better projects to support us. But you don’t have to feel any pressure, just treat it as a learning experience. It’s fine if you can’t come up with a plan, just watch and learn more. After a while, Grandma will arrange for you to join the company. With me here, the Rasmussen family can take care of you for a lifetime.”
Melanie felt warm inside and smiled, “Then–give it to the Rasmussen family.”
“What?” Bethany paused for a second.
“I gave the ten–billion project to the Rasmussen family,” Melanie said.“Whatever Grandma wanted, I gave it to you.”
“Melanie, what kind of daydream are you having?” Winona was totally shocked by what Melanie said.“That’s the MR Group, an international top financial group. Who do you think you are? You think you can just decide to give the project to the Rasmussen family? Do you think you’re the chairman of MR Group or something?”
Melanie leaned back in her chair, her voice really lazy, “You got it right, I’m the chairman of MR Group.”
