Romy walked into the cafe, dressed in a flowing dress and a hat, scanning the room.

The place was hidden away off the beaten path, and since it was the middle of the workday, there were hardly any

customers.

Her eyes landed on an old man sitting in the corner.

He had his back to her, so she couldn’t see his face.

But as if sensing someone approaching, the old man turned around, and Romy froze in shock.

He looked a lot like Nina.

Romy immediately became alert. “Who are you?”

She looked around in fear.

There was no one else, just her and the old man.

I’m Samuel,” the old man said.

The moment Romy heard his name, her face drained of color. “You weren’t you dead?”

Back when the Fosters were all smiles, welcoming Nina home, Romy got curious and had someone pull up Nina’s file. She’d seen all the dirt on the Swanson family.

The old patriarch of the Swanson family had been dead for decades.

Back from the dead, Samuel was right there in front of her.

And on top of that, he was the one person who could actually save her Rocco from this mess.

Am I dreaming? Is this some kind of hallucination? Romy thought.

Samuel picked up his tea and took a slow sip, an enigmatic smile tugging at his lips. “Dead or alive, the only good person is the one who can actually help you.”

As he spoke, Samuel took out a small white porcelain bottle and slid it across the table to Romy.

Romy eyed the bottle warily. “What is this?”

She just couldn’t figure it out. ‘How could someone who’s been dead for decades suddenly come back to life?” she thought

And he’s actually here to help us?‘ she wondered.

Wait a minute, isn’t Samuel actually Nina’s grandpa? Romy thought.

So why would he help us instead of his own granddaughter? she couldn’t help but wonder.

They sat face–to–face, and Romy’s confusion was obvious to Samuel.

Talking to women is always such a headache, Samuel thought.

Still, for the sake of his bigger plan, Samuel kept his cool. “This will help your husband. Mrs. Foster, just take this to your in- laws. That shouldn’t be too difficult for you, right?”

Romy wasn’t clueless. The moment Samuel said that, it clicked for her.

He wants me to poison my in–laws! Romy realized.

With how those two old folks always play favorites, and Grace’s nasty mouth.

And Ryan, who’s so heartless he doesn’t care about anyone at all.

I can’t even get close to the Fosters right now. Even if I managed to slip in and poison them, what then? If they found out, they’d tear me apart, she wondered.

No way am I doing something that stupid, she decided.

‘You’re not helping me at all, you’re just trying to screw me over! Is this some weird stunt Nina put you up to, coming here and playing tricks on me?” Romy snapped, her eyes narrowing with suspicion.

All you care about is getting your husband out of jail in one piece. Me? I’m after Nina,” Samuel said coolly, sipping his coffee. Then he slid his phone across the table to Romy.

Romy saw a surveillance video of Rocco, handcuffed and pacing anxiously in a cramped room.

If we work together, this time tomorrow, Rocco will be back with you, Samuel said as he put away his phone.

Otherwise, Rocco will be stuck in jail, and no one will help him.

Romy thought about all those things Rocco wrote to her in his diary, and everything they’d been through together. She gritted her teeth and said, “Fine.”

f Samuel was for real, then she and Rocco would finally get their happy ending together.

Romy took the bottle and left, while Samuel stayed behind, leisurely sipping his tea.

When the call connected, Samuel spoke in a cold, flat tone. “Is it done?”

All taken care of, Godfather,” replied a young man.

A young man’s deep voice came through the phone.

Samuel gave a satisfied nod. “Alright, I’m coming over now.”

At Brocade Villa, it was late at night.

Nina stood out on the balcony, clutching a bottle of wine, taking one sip after another.

Ryan pushed open the door and caught sight of her delicate silhouette.

Nina turned her head. “Did Scarlet get settled?”

In the end, Nina just couldn’t take it anymore. After handing Scarlet over to Ryan, she went off to hide, unable to deal with facing her.

She simply couldn’t bear to face Scarlet.

“Yeah,” Ryan replied softly. “After taking that medicine you put together on the spot, she can finally sleep peacefully.”

Nina fell quiet, lost in thought, and didn’t say another word.

That medicine was something she’d improvised at the last minute.

She’d spent two hours putting together a simple painkiller, hoping it would at least take the edge off Scarlet’s pain.

But it was just a temporary fix, not a real solution.

Without an antidote, Scarlet would be tormented by this poison for the rest of her life.

Ryan took the bottle from Nina, took a sip, and said, “Nina, I think your grandpa’s got us all fooled.”

Nina pressed her lips together. “Yeah.”

It only dawned on her today.

Samuel’s plan has been decades in the making; there’s no way he’d go through all that just to resurrect a single woman.

Nina looked up at him. “So what do you think it could be?”

Ryan shook his head. “I’ve gone over every possibility I can think of, but none of it really adds up.”

Nina didn’t say anything else.

Ryan stood next to her, watching the moon with her.

They just stood there quietly together.

After a long while, a cool breeze snapped Nina out of her thoughts.

Her face changed, and she suddenly spoke up, “Maybe Sherman’s is actually working with him.”

Exactly! I just thought of that too,” Ryan said, his expression turning serious. “If he and the Shermans are working togethe ven if their goals aren’t the same, they do have one thing in common, destruction.”

The Shermans is trying to find a way to cross time and space, just so they can return to the era when they ruled as kings

If they really want to overthrow the current regime and bring about a new dynasty, then the world as we know it would completely collapse.
