Chapter 331
“Wipe out humanity?” Vincent laughed. “Man, your grandpa’s totally insane! Only a real psycho could dream sp something that messed up.”
Vincent always thought he was wild enough, but he never expected to run into someone even crzer
Hell yeah! Vincent thought to himself. The crazier, the better!
That was exactly his vibe. He loved crazy.
Nina’s lips curled into a sly smile. “Yeah, he’s totally crazy
Vincent glanced up at her. “You came to see me, so you must already know why we’re both key players in his scheme, right?”
Nina nodded. “I’ve been digging into our backgrounds these past couple of days. Scarlet, you and I were all born under the right lunar signs. Plus, both Scarlet and I have aura.”
Nina never realized Scarlet had aura, too.
She only picked up subtle aura when she was treating Scarlet. It was barely there.
Scarlet probably never noticed anything was off, so that aura had never come into play.
As for Vincent, Nina had always been certain he didn’t have any aura.
But since Samuel was targeting Vincent, there had to be a reason. Vincent must have some aura after all.
“Aura?” Vincent paused, surprised. “So, I have it, too.”
Nina wasn’t all that shocked. She’d suspected as much.
Nina lowered her gaze and said, “Samuel’s looking for people born under the right lunar signs. We’re not the only ones he needs.
‘He’s been all over me lately, just to stop me from looking into this. That’s why I need your help, Vincent.”
Vincent let out a bitter laugh. “You know I could never turn you down. Why even say it like that?”
Nina pressed her lips together and stayed silent.
Vincent topped off his own cup, then glanced at Nina’s. “Go on, have some. I promise it’s not poisoned.”
‘I know,” Nina replied.
If she couldn’t spot poison in her own food, all those years studying medicine would’ve been a waste.
She just wanted to cut to the chase.
Nina picked up her cup, drank her coffee, and set it back down on the table.
Vincent topped off her cup and said, “Alright, finish your coffee and head out. Leave the rest to me.
He was scared that if Nina stuck around any longer, he’d never want her to leave.

After a moment of silence, Nina stood up and left.
Vincent couldn’t take his eyes off her as she walked away.
Every version of Nina he’d ever known played through his mind.
He let out a bitter laugh.

‘Nina, we’re just different, Vincent thought. ‘You don’t love me, so it’s easy for you to see me as a friend. But I can’t just be your friend. If I can’t have you, then maybe it’s better if I just disappear from your life.’
“Mr. Sherman.” A sudden voice snapped Vincent out of his thoughts.
Vincent looked up, his gaze steady. “Walter, how many years have you been working for my grandpa?”
Walter thought for a moment and replied, “Thirty years.”
He joined the Sherman family as soon as he became an adult, and this year was the thirtieth year.
“That’s a long time.” Vincent leaned back in his chair, giving Walter a once–over. “If both my grandpa and I were dying at the same time, and you could only save one of us, who would you choose?”
Walter’s face went white, and he said, “Mr. Sherman, please, you mustn’t do anything foolish!”
“I call you useless, and you don’t admit it,” Vincent said with a look of disdain. “I’m just asking a question, not acting as if I’m about to commit murder or arson. I’m a law–abiding citizen.”
Sure, Walter knew what “law–abiding citizen” meant, but hearing Vincent call himself that was just plain confusing.
Vincent shot him a look. “Just answer the question.”
Walter fell silent.
No matter how he answered, he was screwed.
But Vincent’s gaze was so sharp, and he had no choice but to answer.
Walter hesitated for a moment, then said, “Mr. Sherman, if it really came to that, I’d save you.”
Vincent let out a tsk and grinned. “Heh, you really know how to say the right thing. Just for that, I won’t call you useless. anymore.”
Walter stared at Vincent in shock. ‘Am I finally not “useless” in his eyes?‘ he wondered.
“Hey dummy, go run an errand for me,” Vincent said.
‘So, I’ve been promoted from “useless” to “idiot“? Is that a step up?‘ Walter thought. ‘Does “idiot” outrank ‘useless“? Maybe if I try hard enough, I can shake off the “idiot“.
With that thought, Walter immediately straightened up and said respectfully, “Mr. Sherman, just tell me what you need.”

Meanwhile, as Nina walked out of Sherman Manor, Simon’s car pulled up right in front of her,
Nina raised an eyebrow, opened the door, and got in. “Who sent you?”

Simon’s mouth twitched. “Who else but your Mr. Yonter?
Simon was at a loss for words.
He’d been running himself ragged these past few days, keeping tab on Elliott, Vivian, and the rest of that crew.
He was so busy he barely had time to FaceTime his girlfriend.
Then Ryan called him out of nowhere, telling him to go pick up Nina from Sherman Manor
Simon told Ryan to go do it himself.
But Ryan just said, “If you don’t go, there’ll be one less friend in Nina’s world.”
Simon was beyond speechless.
Just so Nina wouldn’t lose a friend, Simon ended up driving himself.
Simon said, dead inside, “Nina, can you please keep Mr. Foster in check? His jealousy is seriously messing with my work”
Nina replied lazily, “I love the jealous type. Did you have a problem with that?”
Simon was speechless.
‘Whatever, I give up, Simon thought. ‘No way I can ever get through to these two lunatics:
Nina leaned back in her seat. “So, how’s the investigation going?”
Simon’s face turned serious. “Elliott bought out a nightclub. In the past few days, twenty people who came for jobs at his club have gone missing.
“Of those twenty, two were born under the right lunar signs, and the rest were born during special hours.”
“Just as I thought,” Nina said.
It was pretty much what Nina had guessed.
Samuel was gathering all these people born under the right lunar signs to activate a formation.
He was trying to reverse time and space.
But Nina couldn’t figure it out. If Samuel’s real goal was to wipe out humanity, he had no reason to go through all the trouble to reverse time and space.
All that would do was benefit Ruben.
Nina thought, ‘Looks like I’m still missing a piece of the puzzle.‘
Nina snapped out of it and asked, “How’s Elliott doing?”
Simon said, “He’s already met Lawrence, and the wedding date’s set, but Lawrence hasn’t asked him to meet the elders of the Nicholson family yet. It doesn’t look like that’s happening anytime soon, though.”
Nina looked up. “What’s up?”
“Lawrence has been busy keeping Vivian happy.” Simon replied.

Nina let out a soft laugh. “What’s Mrs. Swanson done this time?”
“She set up Rylie to catch them in the act, then started playing hard to get with Lawrence,” Simon said.
Nina clicked her tongue. “She’s a real pro at this.”
After a beat, Nina said, “Since Elliott can’t break into the Nicholson family, let Vivian do it. Set it up. I want to meet her.
Simon was stunned. “Boss, Vivian wishes you were dead. You really think she’ll help you? Don’t dig your own grave!” Nina’s lips curled into a sly smile. “See, you really don’t get Vivian. No matter how much she hates me, I’m still her daughter. “We’re cut from the same cloth. Neither of us ever lets a grudge slide. If I help her get revenge, she should be thanking me.”
Simon was speechless.
Are you really sure she’ll be grateful and not just pull you into her mess?‘ Simon wondered. ‘Whatever, I’ll never figure out what Nina thinks. I’ll just follow orders and keep my mouth shut
