“You know you’re almost thirty, so why aren’t you getting serious about finding a girlfriend?” Wrenley shot back. 

“I… I am looking,” Charles stammered. 

Wrenley snorted. “I’ve heard that excuse a million times. So where is she? Why can’t you find one?” 

As she spoke, Wrenley’s gaze kept drifting over to Camila. 

Right now, at this big event, Charles had this girl right next to him. 

Clearly, their relationship was anything but ordinary. 

Besides, she seemed to get along with Briana, too. 

Briana noticed the way Wrenley kept glancing at Camila. 

She quickly spoke up, “Grandma, just give Charles a bit more time. He’s getting close! If there’s any good news, he’ll definitely let us know first.” 

“Don’t waste time,” Wrenley replied. “Why not just make it happen today? No time like the present!” 

Charles was completely dumbfounded. 

What is Grandma talking about?‘ he wondered. 

Briana was just as shocked.

“Today?” Carnila teased, grinning. “Mr. Lane, who are you thinking of popping the question to? Got your eye on someone?” 

Charles just kept quiet. 

“Honestly, it’s kind of perfect,” Camila said, still smiling “Everything’s ready, flowers, the mood, and all your family and friends are here. Mr. Lane, you don’t want to miss out on a chance like this.” 

Olivia nudged Briana. “Do you think she really doesn’t get it, or is she just pretending not to?” 

Briana shot back instantly, “She’s definitely playing dumb.” 

She didn’t even have to think about it. 

Camila was a pro; she’d been through all kinds of situations. If she couldn’t read between the lines, she wouldn’t have made 

it this far.

“If he can’t seize the moment, what can I do?” Briana replied. 

Charles cleared his throat. “Well, today’s all about my sister and her husband’s big moment, so I wouldn’t want to steal their thunder. If I ever propose or confess, I’d make sure to set up something special myself, not just crash someone else’s celebration.” 

Camila’s smile grew even brighter. “Wow, Mr. Lane, I didn’t expect you to be so thoughtful.” 

“Of course, Charles said with a confident grin. “I’m a responsible guy who knows how to step up.” 

Wrenley’s gaze kept shifting between the two of them. 

After a brief pause, she pulled Briana aside. 

“What’s the relationship between your brother and that girl?” Wrenley asked. 

“They’re colleagues,” Briana replied. “She works under him.” 

Wrenley looked confused. “Just colleagues? So how come she’s here?” 

“Come on, Grandma, they just haven’t admitted their feelings yet,” Briana replied. “Just give them some time, let it happen. 

“I’m telling you, this girl’s really something. Charles needs to act fast; if someone else snatches her up, he’ll never find anyone this good,” Wrenley said. 

Briana grinned. “Grandma, why do you think Camila’s such a good catch?” 

Wrenley explained warmly, “You can tell from her looks. She has a blessed, fortunate face. A wife should be beautiful, smart, and reliable. At the proposal, she managed everything swiftly and efficiently, showing professionalism, quick thinking, and a no–nonsense attitude.”

Evelyn saw the two whispering and came over, leaning on her cane to join the conversation. 

“What are you two chatting about? Let me in on the secret,” Evelyn said, smiling. “Briana, I haven’t seen you in a while. You look a little fuller, and honestly, it suits you.” 

Briana stuck out her tongue playfully. “Yeah, I really have gotten chubbier.” 

“You’re expecting, so of course you should gain some weight,” Evelyn said warmly. “Eat more, take care of yourself.” 

“Will do,” Briana replied. 

Evelyn and Wrenley shared a look, their smiles growing even warmer and brighter. 

Meanwhile, Richard and Isabelle were urging Shepard to listen closely. 

“You need to give Briana your whole heart, no more doubts, no more changing your mind,” Isabelle said seriously. “Not everyone gets a second chance like this. Honestly, it nearly cost you your life.” 

The car accident orchestrated by Sophia nearly killed Shepard.
