Rylie stood there, mouth agape, unable to utter a single word.Â

Vivian finished getting dressed and squared up to Rylie, her eyes cold. “What was that supposed to mean? You said you’ve loved him for years? Rylie, when did you start coveting my man? Does your husband even know about this?”Â
1-1- Rylie stammered and panicked.Â
Now she finally understood why Lawrence had been acting like a completely different person toward her today.Â
She also realized why Lawrence had hurried to cover Vivian with the blanket the moment she walked in.Â
If Vivian ever found out about her and Lawrence, there was no way she’d keep doing whatever he wanted the way she usedÂ
- to.Â
Vivian’s research on intelligence genes was absolutely crucial to Lawrence.Â
If she ruined his plans, Lawrence wouldn’t hesitate to kill her.Â
Just as Rylie was scrambling for an excuse, Vivian slapped her hard across the face. “Rylie, I’ve always given in to you since we were kids.Â
“You may just be the adopted daughter in the Lowell family, but I treated you like my real sister. And this is how you pay me back? By going after my man?”Â
“N–No, Vivian, you’ve got it all wrong! I was just messing around with him,” Rylie stammered.Â
“Do you think I’m stupid? ‘Messing around‘ and you ended up with two kids? No wonder you never brought your so–called husband home all these years. Turns out your ‘husband‘ is actually my man?” Vivian snapped.Â
Vivian turned to Lawrence, letting out a cold, mocking laugh. “Bravo, you two. You’ve been making a fool out of me for years.Â
“Lawrence, for your so–called ambitions, I married a man I never loved. I poured everything I had into loving you, and this is what I get? Great.”Â
Her eyes brimmed with tears, but she held them back. Then she turned on her heel and walked away.Â
Lawrence reached out in a panic to stop her. “Vivian, please, let me explain-”Â
Vivian pushed him away, her face icy. “Save your breath. I’ve got eyes and ears. I’m not stupid. Not giving Lawrence a chance to say another word, she shoved the door open and walked out.Â
But as soon as the door shut behind her, the tears in Vivian’s eyes disappeared in a flash, replaced by a sly, cold smile tugging at her lips.Â
Vivian shot a look back at the room, sneering inwardly. ‘Rylie, you’ve always had a thing for taking what’s mine. Fine, let’s see how he treats you now that you’ve got him,‘ she thought.Â
In Betrico, at Brocade Villa, things were quiet.Â
Ryan’s uncles had been causing trouble lately, so he’d gone to the company to deal with some business.Â

Sarah was busy watering her flowers, while Nina sat on a bench in the yard, watching her. For a moment, everything felt peaceful and timeless.Â
Just then, Nina’s phone rang.Â
It was Vincent calling.Â
Nina hesitated for a moment before picking up. “What do you want?” she asked, her tone cool.Â
Vincent replied with a hint of grievance, “Do I always need a reason to call you? Can’t I just miss you and want to hear your voice?”Â
Nina couldn’t be bothered with his nonsense. “What do you think?” she replied coolly.Â
Vincent whined, “You heartless little thing. I’ve been out there every day, trying to track down Scarlet for you, and this is how you treat me? My heart’s shattered. You have to heal my wounded soul-”Â
Before he could finish, Nina cut him off. “I’m hanging up now.”Â
Vincent just stood there, totally speechless. Just another day of me being pathetic, Vincent thought to himself.Â
Vincent knew better than to expect any kind words from Nina. He might as well be dreaming. Dropping the banter, he said, “I’ve found Scarlet. She’s out in the Betrico outskirts.”Â
“Are you sure?” Nina asked, narrowing her eyes.Â
Last time, Ryan hadn’t been able to pinpoint exactly where her grandfather was, but they were pretty sure he was in Riverdale.Â
She hadn’t expected Scarlet to turn up in Betrico so soon.Â
‘Looks like as soon as I left Riverdale, Grandpa took Scarlet and left too,‘ she thought.Â
Vincent said, “When have I ever lied to you? I’ll be at your door in two minutes. Come out, I’m taking you with me to find her.”Â
Before Nina could say a word, Vincent added, “And don’t even think about bringing Ryan.”Â
Nina raised an eyebrow. “Oh? So you want me, a married woman, to go off alone with you? Just the two of us?”Â
Vincent was speechless. “It’s not like this is the first time we’ve been alone together. Cut the crap. No Ryan, or I’m not going.Â
“I haven’t settled the score with him for sneaking you off to get your marriage license. If he dares show up in front of me, see if I don’t break his legs.”Â
Nina arched an eyebrow. “Who exactly are you planning to break?”Â
Vincent just stood there, totally speechless.Â
“That’s a blatant threat, he grumbled to himself.Â
Vincent was fuming. “What, you can’t survive without Ryan now? You two just got married and he’s already taking over your life? So getting hitched means you’re ready to toss your whole career aside?”Â

Nina replied coolly, “If I can build my career, I can walk away from it too.Â
With everything that had happened, all she wanted was to marry the man she loved and start a family. There was nothing wrong with that.Â
As for her career, do I really think the whole place would fall apart without me?‘ she thought.Â
But there was no point in arguing about it with Vincent.Â
Vincent rolled his eyes. ‘She’s got a total crush on Ryan. She doesn’t spare a single thought for me, he grumbled to himself.Â
He didn’t want to waste any more breath on her–he might just lose his temper. “My people are already tracking your grandpa. If you keep dragging your feet and he gets away, don’t blame me for not helping.”Â
“Wait for me,” Nina said.Â

In the car parked nearby, Vincent hung up on Nina and immediately dialed another number.Â
As soon as the call connected, a devilish grin spread across Vincent’s face. “I’m giving you a chance to lose that useless tag.”Â
On the other end, Walter’s eyes lit up. “Master Vincent, just give me your orders!”Â
‘Finally! I can finally ditch that useless tag!‘ Walter thought, his heart racing with excitement.Â
Vincent toyed with the ring on his finger. “In half an hour, go with Plan B.”Â
“Yes, sir!” Walter answered firmly, his voice full of conviction.Â
Nina hung up, let Sarah know she was heading out, then shot Ryan a quick call before leaving.Â
As soon as she reached the door, Vincent’s car pulled up right in front of her.Â
Nina shot a glance at Vincent in the driver’s seat, then opened the back door and got in.Â
Vincent whined, “What, am I some kind of trash now? Does sitting next to me make you feel like you’re slumming it?”Â
Nina replied coolly, “I’m a married woman. Gotta keep up appearances.”Â
Vincent just stood there, totally speechless.Â
‘She really doesn’t have to keep rubbing it in that Ryan went and stole the girl I’ve been dreaming about, Vincent thought bitterly.Â
Vincent caught Nina’s eye in the rearview mirror, a wicked smirk on his lips. “I barely know my way around Betrico. You sure you wanna sit back there and watch me drive?Â
“I might just take you out to some creepy forest. You still wanna find Scarlet or not?”Â
Nina just stared, totally at a loss for words.Â
She shot Vincent a sideways look–she knew he was just messing with her, but still popped open the door and hopped into the front seat.Â

Saving Scarlet was the priority. She wasn’t about to waste any time.Â
Vincent saw Nina move up front, grinned in triumph, then started the car and duneÂ
As soon as the car pulled away, Tina, lurking nearby, tucked her phone away and wented, “Wind’s never parking good I’ll just wait and see.Â
“Once Grandpa finds out you’re sneaking around with another guy behind Ryan’s back, let’s see if hell on fer you be with Ryan.”Â
