Chapter 118 How to Thank Me

After she finished, she grabbed her bag and walked out of the police station. It was already 10:30, and she wondered if it would be hard to get a taxi.

As she was walking, phone in hand, trying to book a ride, Tracy saw Sean’s car parked at the

entrance.

She was shocked he had actually come here to pick her up. He really saw things through to the end. Sean really was a good person.

She paused for a second, quickly put her phone way, and jogged over. She opened the passenger door and slid in.

As Tracy fastened her seatbelt, she thanked him. “Sean, thank you so much for today. If it weren’t for you, I never would have been able to let off all that steam.”

Yvonne had been acting high and mighty, relying on the Xanders’ favor, and couldn’t stand the sight of her. Today’s events were a good lesson for her.

Whether Jared believed Yvonne’s nonsense or not, this had at least served as a warning to her. That was enough.

After all, a game is more thrilling when played slowly. Crushing Yvonne all at once would be letting her off too easy.

She wanted Yvonne to watch helplessly as everything she had stolen was lost, bit by bit. She would let that mother-daughter duo have a taste of what it felt like to lose everything and be abandoned.

And as for Quincy, today had served as a solid lesson. The next time she got sent in, it wouldn’t be a simple formality. It would be for a conviction.

No matter how long it took or how difficult the path, she would pursue this to the very end to make sure Quincy was locked up.

Her uncle was gone, but she would make sure his name was cleared.

When that day came, she would make Quincy repent at her uncle’s grave. She would make sure she rotted in prison.

Sean was wearing a black shirt, the sleeves rolled up high, revealing his strong forearms. His hand rested on the steering wheel. The dim yellow glow of the streetlights outside washed over his profile, casting a faint golden halo.

He turned his head to look at Tracy, his expression less sharp than usual, softened with a hint

of warmth. “How do you plan to thank me?”

Tracy’s hand paused on the seatbelt buckle. She looked up, her eyes meeting his.

Her mind went blank. She stared at him, bewildered, a flicker of guilt in her eyes.

How should I thank him?

She realized she had never even considered the question. But she couldn’t admit that; it would seem too ungrateful.

Seeming to sense her predicament, Sean cleared his throat and offered a hint. “I’m off

tomorrow.”

That snapped Tracy back. She quickly finished buckling her seatbelt, thought for a second, and then proposed, “In that case, I’ll go to the market tomorrow, buy extra groceries, and cook a big meal. You can come over to my place I can’t brag about much, but I’m a really good cook. You can come and try, if you don’t believe me.”

The mention of food made her remember something. She turned to Sean. “Oh, right, what do

you like to eat? Any allergies or things you don’t eat? I’ll make a note so I don’t buy the wrong things tomorrow.”

Chandler, for instance, had been incredibly picky. There were many things he wouldn’t eat, and others he couldn’t. It wasn’t just Chandler; Renee was just as fussy. The food their housekeeper made never suited her, so she was constantly coming over to mooch off their meals.

She wondered what Renee was eating these days without her cooking. That girl was a spoiled princess and so difficult to please. Even her mother and brother couldn’t stand her sometimes.

Still, thanks to their pickiness, she had managed to develop excellent cooking skills over the

years.

Hearing this, Sean’s lips curved up slightly. He told her that he wasn’t a picky eater at all; the only thing he didn’t eat was cilantro.

Tracy was surprised. Huh? That’s it? He’s pretty easy to feed.

She had assumed someone like Sean, born with a silver spoon, would be extremely particular about his food. Chandler and his sister, after all, were exceptionally fussy. She never expected Sean to be so easygoing about food.

It was incredible.

They arrived back at their building quickly. The elevator doors opened, and Tracy walked

Sean suddenly spoke. “Tracy, when you go to the market tomorrow morning, let me know.”

Tracy’s hand paused on the key. She froze. Does he mean he wants to go with me?

The distinguished ‘golden boy’ wants to go to a chaotic public market with her? Won’t he find that beneath him?

While Tracy was still processing this, Sean walked to his own door and took out his key. Before closing his door, he looked back at her. “It’s late. Get some rest. And don’t forget to get

me tomorrow.”

With that, he closed his door.

Tracy quickly opened her own door and went inside. She grabbed her clothes and headed for a shower, her mind still replaying what Sean had said.

The “golden boy” who seemed so above it all actually wanted to go with her to the crowded, chaotic market. She just couldn’t figure it out.
