Chapter 39 Send Her a Lawyer’s Letter, Demand Repayment Within Three Days

In a hazy sleep, Tracy heard her phone ring. Without looking, she turned over and continued sleeping.

The call ended automatically.

Tracy had a recurring fever for two days. On the third day, the fever finally broke.

Soon, her discharge day arrived.

She returned home. Jennie quickly greeted her, ook the items from her hand, and brought her a pair of slippers.

Jennie said apologetically, “Madam Tracy, I am so sorry. I wanted to bring you food, but the madam wouldn’t let me. She said you did something wrong and needed to reflect properly on where you went wrong.”

Tracy curved her lips, letting out a mocking smile. Hailey truly was shameless as ever.

Afraid that Tracy would be too comfortable, she would sabotage her every now and then. Tracy had mentioned this to Chandler before.

In the beginning, he would still console her, “Mom is old, and she doesn’t live with us. You don’t have to pay attention to her.”

But later, Chandler gradually grew impatient, claiming she was overly fussy. He was busy enough every day and had to deal with her in-law issues, so he told her not to bother him again.

But now, nothing mattered. Whatever Hailey did was irrelevant to her.

Because the countdown was at three days. She was about to grab her suitcase and leave this house forever.

Thinking this, Tracy hugged Jennie and said, “I’m fine now, don’t worry. I won’t hold a grudge.”

She was due to start at WeiXun tomorrow, and on Wednesday, she could leave with her luggage. It was wonderful. She was finally escaping the sea of misery.

Jennie took a courier envelope from the coffee table and handed it to Tracy, “Madam Tracy, this is a document Mr. Chandler sent you via same-city express delivery. Please open it and see what it is.”

The package, sent via same-city express, looked like an official document. The recipient was Tracy.

To send a document within the same house via courier meant Chandler hadn’t been home for a long time!

Tracy tore open the package, pulled out the letter, and a sneer practically spilled from the corners of her mouth when she saw the words ‘Lawyer’s Letter.’

Chandler was serious. He actually intended to sue her. Fine, he shouldn’t blame her for retaliating.

Jennie also saw the words “Lawyer’s Letter.” She looked shocked. Meanwhile, Tracy looked calm.

She seemed to have already anticipated that Chandler would send a lawyer’s letter. Jennie couldn’t understand why they couldn’t just talk things out. He had to send his wife a lawyer’s letter while she was hospitalized.

Regardless of what mistake the wife made, the husband’s behavior was simply heartbreaking!

The couple was fighting so badly they were resorting to legal procedures. It would be difficult for them to reconcile.

“Madam Tracy, this…” Jennie hesitated to speak, looking worried.

Tracy pulled the lawyer’s letter out, casually tossed the packaging into the trash, and told Jennie, “It’s fine. I can handle it myself. I’m going upstairs now.”

She wanted to see what nonsense Chandler had written so she could figure out how to fight back.

She took the lawyer’s letter to the room and opened it. The document stated in black and white that due to Tracy’s dereliction of duty, the company suffered a direct loss of five million, and he was suing her to recover that money.

The second page stated: Tracy defrauded Ms. Hailey of thirty million. Added to the company’s loss, the total was thirty-five million, and she was required to pay it back within three days.

It even included a copy of the receipt as evidence, indicating he had come prepared.

Tracy curved her lips and called a number. The ine rang as if the person on the other end was deliberately ignoring her call. The phone hung up without being answered.

Tracy wasn’t annoyed. She found her WhatsApp snapped a photo of the divorce agreement, and sent it with the caption: “2 PM, See you at Serendipity Cafe. If you don’t show, you’ll bear the consequences.”

After sending the message, Tracy went to deal with her own affairs.

When Hailey received Tracy’s message, she was shopping with Yvonne. The two were walking hand-in-hand, chatting happily.

Hailey’s heart jumped when she saw the call was from Tracy. She quickly put the phone back in her bag.

Yvonne looked at Hailey curiously. “Your phone keeps ringing. Why don’t you answer it?”

“Just a nuisance call. Ignore it,” Hailey waved her hand, paying no mind to Tracy’s call.

Just then, Renee spotted them in the distance and waved, “Mom, I’m here.”

She had long considered Yvonne her sister-in-law. As for Tracy, that useless idiot was no longer her sister-in-law.

Tracy had dared to hit her last time and was now not only trying to evade punishment by feigning illness but was also involved with another man. She clearly had no respect for the Gaunt family.

She had heard her brother say he had sent Tracy a lawyer’s letter and that if Tracy didn’t pay within three days, they would meet in court.

Thinking this, Renee’s mood soared. She could finally vent her anger.

She figured someone like Tracy, who only earned a meager salary, couldn’t possibly come up with thirty-five million.

If she couldn’t come up with the money, Tracy would go to jail. That thought made Renee happy. Chandler was finally getting revenge for her.

Hailey and Yvonne walked closer. Renee grabbed Yvonne’s arm and said, sounding slightly aggrieved, “You two finally made it. I’ve been waiting here for almost half an hour.”

Yvonne patted Renee’s hand, comforting her, “Then pick out any outfit you like in the store, and I’ll pay for it. How about that?”

Renee immediately adopted a sweet smile, resting her head on Yvonne’s arm, saying playfully, “I knew you were the best, Yvonne. I love you the most.”

Just then, Hailey’s phone received a message. She took it out of her bag. After only a glance, she was instantly terrified.

Tracy was threatening her!

This Tracy, she used to seem so well-behaved and sensible, but ever since she decided to divorce her son,

First, she blackmailed thirty million from her by threatening to expose the marriage.

Then she hit Renee, faked illness at the hospital, and was now brazenly involved with another

man.

This woman was awful! And yet, she had no way to deal with Tracy.

Renee noticed Hailey’s distress and asked worriedly, “Mom, what’s wrong? Did something happen?”

Hailey shook her head, “You two go shopping. I have something to do this afternoon, so I’m leaving now.”

The thought of what Tracy might do sent a chill down her spine. She had a terrible premonition.

She felt that if she didn’t show up for the meeting, Tracy would reveal the secret and ruin her son’s reputation. By then, it would be too late to regret it.

She had to go and confront that woman, see what she wanted, and figure out how to make Tracy obediently return the thirty million.
