Chapter 98 The Doctor is Silenced About Grandma’s Illness
“Ms. Yvonne is usually indulged at home; once she suggests something, the family simply goes along with her and travels.”
Sarah’s health hasn’t been good for a long time, yet no one in the family has ever paid serious attention. Especially Yvonne, who suggests every trip, always finding a good excuse, and the whole family follows her lead. The elderly lady collapsed suddenly this time, and no one was home. If I hadn’t found her in time, the consequences would have been unthinkable.
Tracy tried hard to tell herself not to get angry, but she still let out a breath, her stomach hurting from the stress. It’s Yvonne again. Will than woman die if she stops causing trouble? The day of Mom’s death anniversary, I had that incident, and now Grandma collapses—and it was also her who called the whole family out. Only a ghost would believe she didn’t do it on purpose!
Entering Grandma’s ward, Tracy saw her lying on the hospital bed in a patient gown, eyes closed. The nurse was setting up an IV drip, and tears immediately streamed down Tracy’s face.
Grandma was nearly ninety, and there were no relatives present when she collapsed. If anything serious were to happen, what would they do? It was a near miss this time, but who knows if they would be so lucky again? People often say they raise children to look after them in old age, yet Grandma was sick, and her sons and grandsons were all absent. If they needed. a signature for something, there wouldn’t even be anyone to sign. If treatment was delayed, the consequences…
Tracy didn’t dare to think any further. Her heart felt as though it were being pierced, and tears flowed freely. She hadn’t cried during painful examinations, when she learned she had mid-stage cancer, or even when the cancer cells spread. But now, seeing Grandma’s pale, lifeless appearance, she wept uncontrollably. She didn’t consider herself an overly sensitive person; she was indifferent to her own suffering, but she genuinely ached for Grandma’s well-being.
Tracy sniffled, walked over, tucked the blanket around Grandma, and sat by the bedside, holding Grandma’s frail, aged hand. After only a few days, Grandma seemed even thinner, with little flesh left on her tired, weather-beaten face.
Just then, the attending physician, a young man, knocked and walked in. Tracy quickly stood up and asked urgently, “Doctor, how is my grandma? Why did she suddenly faint?”
The doctor glanced at the still-unconscious elderly lady on the bed, sighed, and motioned for Tracy to step outside to talk. Tracy followed the doctor out. When they reached the rooftop area, Tracy repeated her question. The young doctor frowned, hesitating whether to tell the truth. Sarah had previously told him to keep her condition a secret. However, the elderly lady’s situation was deteriorating, and he felt it was necessary for the family to know the actual diagnosis. He pinched the medical record in his hand and weighed his words

Before he could say the words “not have much time, Sarah’s voice came from the rooftop entrance. Tracy, you’re here.”
Linda held Sarah’s IV bag high and followed behind her. They had walked so quickly that Sarah hadn’t even had time to put on her shoes and was now panting heavily. Tracy rushed over and held Sarah’s hand. “Grandma, you’re sick. Why did you come out without wearing shoes? Did something happen?” When she first saw Sarah barefoot, she was startled, thinking something had happened, and quickly scanned her body for injuries. I don’t want anything to happen to Grandma. As long as she is here, I still have someone I care about and depend on. If even Grandma leaves, I will truly be alone and helpless.
Sarah held Tracy’s hand in return and explained with a smile, “I heard Linda say you had just arrived, and I couldn’t wait to see you.”
She had just woken up and heard Linda say Tracy had arrived and gone out with the doctor to discuss her condition. Without thinking, she endured the dizziness, threw back the blanket, got out of bed, and hurried toward the rooftop, not even pausing to put on her shoes. Linda was shocked by her actions and quickly grabbed the IV bottle, jogging to catch up. They rushed to the rooftop, and seeing the doctor about to reveal her true condition, she quickly called Tracy’s name. Thankfully I was in time. The doctor hadn’t had a chance to say anything. How sad would my Tracy be if she knew my time was limited!
The young doctor understood Sarah’s meaning sighed silently, and started walking toward the door. Seeing the doctor approach, Tracy quickly asked the question the doctor hadn’t finished. “Doctor, you didn’t finish what you were saying just now. Can you tell me now?” Sarah shot the doctor a warning look. The message was clear: Don’t speak carelessly, or face the consequences. Sarah had managed the business world alongside Mr. Xander for many years during her middle age, and her gaze held the sharpness of a seasoned businesswoman. So, even though she wasn’t overtly angry, her look carried immense, invisible pressure.
The doctor cleared his throat and said, “Your grandmother is just dizzy due to physical weakness. Rest and conditioning will help her greatly. It’s nothing serious.” She doesn’t want her family to know her condition, and here I am trying to inform them. I really am sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong. Forget it, this is their family matter. shouldn’t get involved. I’ll just leave.
Tracy pursed her lips and thanked him. “Thank you for the update, Doctor. Sorry for the trouble.”
Watching the doctor’s retreating figure, Tracy felt something was amiss, but she couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was.
At that moment, Sarah tugged her arm. “Tracy, I’m fine. Linda was just overly worried, which is why she brought me to the hospital. See? The doctor said I’m alright. Are you relieved now?”

Now that the doctor had left, the tension she had been holding immediately eased. She felt terribly dizzy now but forced herself to endure t. The doctor had told her that due to her advanced age, all her organs were deteriorating and various diseases would follow. Knowing her time was limited, she felt a sense of freedom she hadn’t experienced before. As long as she saw the Tracy she cared about settled, she would truly die without regret.
Tracy helped Grandma back to the ward and settled her into bed. Linda hung the IV bottle on the pole beside the bed. Tracy carefully noticed that the back of Grandma’s hand, where the IV was inserted, had swelled into a large lump. She quickly ran out to call a nurse to change the needle.
The nurse saw Sarah’s badly swollen hand. As she removed the needle, she admonished Tracy, “What happened? Patients should not move around or walk while receiving an IV drip. Don’t you even understand this basic common sense? It’s so swollen, and you didn’t even notice. How exactly are you looking after her?”
