“Jayden spent his short life by your side, Lauren. He braved the storms to conduct the site visit on the mountain for you. Now that he’s gone, you must never remarry, or he’d be heartbroken.”

“By the way, why don’t you transfer Jayden’s shares to the two of us? We’ll protect everything he left behind together with you.”

Hearing those familiar voices, I immediately shot upright in bed.

Miraculously, I had been reborn on the very day Jayden Scott faked his death and eloped with his lover!

“Where’s Nellie?” I asked.

My question left Jayden’s brothers, Jesse and Joel, stunned.

“Jayden just died and you couldn’t care less, but now you’re asking about a maid’s whereabouts?”

“Are we that worthless to you?”

Seeing the anger and embarrassment on their faces, I chuckled instead of replying.

“Now that Jayden is dead, I will revoke every share transferred to him. Robin, come with me to the police station. We’re terminating his citizenship and getting a death certificate!”

My assistant Robin immediately followed.

Jesse and Joel simply stood there, dumbfounded.

“Lauren! How could you be so heartless and take back everything that was his after he just passed away? Shouldn’t you let us split the shares between us?”

Even as I met their red eyes, I didn’t slow down. In my past life, after I learned of Jayden’s death, I fainted from all the crying. I vowed to remain a widow forever, all for his sake. As for his shares, I quietly instructed them to be transferred to Jesse and Joel.

But when I saw Jayden and the nanny Nellie abroad in Massalia as a family, I immediately realized something was wrong.

I quickly told my subordinates to audit my finances.

The results?

I found out that Jesse and Joel had been using the profit from the shares I gave them to send Jayden half a million dollars every month just for living expenses, all so he could enjoy a carefree life overseas with his mistress!

In my previous life, everything I did ended up benefiting someone else.

But this time, Jayden’s death was just what I wanted to hear.

My car had just arrived at the Vital Records Office when I received news from the company. All of Jayden’s shares had been recovered and were now mine again.

I nodded in satisfaction and handed the documents to the clerk. “These are my late husband’s personal documents. Please terminate his citizenship for me.”

The clerk glanced at Jayden’s photo, and a hint of regret flashed in her eyes. “He’s so young, and he’s a top university graduate. Even married into the Hanson family, too. What a shame!”

She got to work efficiently and typed in the information. Then, she reached for the official seal.

Just then, Jesse and Joel burst into the office.

“Don’t stamp that!” they screamed in unison.

I looked at the sweat on their brows with a hint of bitterness.

Though I did choose Jayden to be my husband, I had never mistreated Jesse or Joel. Aside from the shares, they had everything Jayden had.

Yet, they colluded to lie to me from the very start… For sixty long years!

While they funneled money to Jayden so he could take good care of Nellie, I kept investing in them, hoping they would have a good life.

While they soothed their longing with photos and videos, I was cooking for them personally, despite being one of the wealthiest figures in the world.

While they reunite with Jayden and Nellie using business trips as a cover, I was secretly buying out their favorite game developers as a surprise.

I treated them like family.

In return, they treated me like a fool.

Now, it was time for them to see the whole truth. Without me, they were simply orphans I picked up from the orphanage!

“Jesse, Joel,” I said warningly, “when you speak to me, you will address me politely.”

Jesse’s jaw dropped, eyes blazing with fury. “We treat you like family! How can you order us like that?”

Joel frowned as well. “Lauren, what’s wrong with you today? Has Jayden’s passing rattled you that badly?”

An icy smile formed on my lips as I took back the warmth I used to treat them with. I let my pride as the heiress return.

“And? Do I need to explain anything to you?”

The disbelief on their faces deepened, fingernails digging into their palms.

In the end, they bowed and lowered their heads.

“Of course, Madam Lauren. We just heard about Jayden’s passing, and we were just too shocked to…”

However, I had no interest in their explanation; I raised my hand, cutting them off.

“Stamp it.”
