Fortunately, Shanan hadn’t lost much blood. He was knocked unconscious only briefly, and immediately stopped the commotion.
Shanan was worried about my condition, so he took care of me together with the rest of the hospital staff. In that brief moment, Jayden and the others had vanished.
Not knowing what I was truly thinking, Shanan didn’t act rashly. He had been waiting for me to wake up.
After taking all the information in and thinking it through, I asked about Nellie’s condition. She was completely fine, with only a minor scrape on her arm. She had already completed her paperwork and was discharged, and had left the hospital with Jayden and the others.
I lowered my eyes and scoffed.
I had already frozen Jayden, Jesse, and Joel’s credit cards. All the privileges they had from the Hanson family had also been revoked. They were used to living a life of luxury–they would never leave.
If I was correct, the three of them were probably hiding at the villa I had bought for them.
Shanan chatted with me for a while, then handed me a phone. “I heard your phone got wrecked in the crash. I got you a replacement SIM card. Use this for now.”
I nodded. As soon as I turned the phone on, it wouldn’t stop vibrating. All of the texts were from Jayden and his brothers.
[Nel’s fine. No need to donate your skin for grafting.]
[We’re leaving now. If your father asks about this, just say you crashed the car yourself.]
[Why are our cards frozen? Do you know Nel needs a lot of money for her studies abroad? We’re running out of time! I’ll get the money from the family account.]
[Why did you revoke our privileges? Are you seriously cutting us off right before Nel leaves the country? Why are you being so petty?]
[Look, I know you’re jealous of how much special treatment we give Nel, but she earned it with her kindness. You have no reason to target her!]
[Alright, let’s get straight to the point. If you’re willing to give Nel two million dollars and cover her future expenses, I’m willing to stay with you forever. That’s a good deal, right?]
[The deadline for Nel’s payment is coming up in three days, I order you to pay for it now!]
After reading the last message, I turned the phone off and gave Shanan a sweet smile.

“Our wedding will be in three days.”
Shanan didn’t hesitate. He immediately told our families to get things ready.
I let out a deep sigh as I watched him getting busy. I took the wrong step in my past life, and I missed him for a lifetime.
But this time, I would live happily with Shanan–I would make sure of it.
Soon, the day of our wedding arrived.
I departed from the Hanson residence; the bridal car had just left the gates when I ran into Jayden and the others almost immediately. His eyes widened in disbelief when he saw me inside the car, clad in bridal attire.
Jayden stepped right onto the road to stop us.
“Lauren! What’s the meaning of this? I’m still alive… How can you marry someone else? I know you’re jealous of how much we care about Nel, but no one can control our feelings. Isn’t it too petty of you to try and provoke us like this?”
Shanan squeezed my hand tenderly before stepping out. He grabbed Jayden, who was leading the other three, roughly by the collar.
“What’s a dead man like you making a scene here?” he snarled.
When Nellie saw Shanan, her eyes immediately lit up, and she instantly put on a miserable expression.
“It’s a misunderstanding! Miss Lauren’s been withholding my salary. They’re just standing up for me, that’s all. Not only is she withholding my salary, but she’s also already married…”
She then gasped dramatically and quickly covered her mouth.
“Oh, I’m so sorry! You must be the actor she hired to deceive her husband, right? I shouldn’t have said so much–argh! Why did you hit me?!”
When they saw the red handprint on Nellie’s cheek, Jayden and the others were so furious that they wanted to retaliate.
However, Shanan simply smiled as he looked at them like the fools they were.
“What’s this? You wanted my wife’s skin grafted on you just a few days ago, and now you’re badmouthing her right to my face? Are you really that tired of living?”
