What Julian said was true.
She had stood before the Waltons and said those words herself–words that, without a doubt, meant she
had abandoned him.
Since she had already abandoned him once, how could she still hope for her son’s forgiveness?
Julian remained where he was until Carol’s figure disappeared upstairs. Only then did he turn and leave
without hesitation.
What he didn’t know was that around the corner on the second floor, Carol was silently sobbing, tears
streaming down her face.
The night was too quiet, so she had to cover her chest to muffle her cries.
She knew this time, she had truly lost Julian.
How could she not love the child she gave birth to?
Her poor child. Life from now on would surely be tough for him.
She didn’t even know if he could take care of himself out there, all alone.
The memory ended. After Julian left, life for Carol indeed grew difficult.
Albert had told her to keep a close eye on Julian.
But now, he was gone.
Albert didn’t dare make a public scene, so he had to quietly search behind the scenes, only to come up
with nothing.
With the three–day deadline fast approaching, his fury grew, and he became more agitated by the minute.
Eventually, he turned his anger on Carol.
Though chilled to the core, she didn’t resist.
There was nothing she could change.

She hadn’t stepped foot in the business world in years, kept at home by Albert, spending her time with

She had wronged him.
Albert looked down at Carol lying on the floor, barely clinging to consciousness, and a sudden wave of fury surged in his chest.
“Useless. Just look at Madam Grace–she’s a woman too. How did I end up marrying trash like you?”
Carol’s heart ached like it was being pierced by needles.
She could tolerate the beatings, but once he dragged her family into it, she couldn’t stay silent.
Her eyes flew open, wide and filled with rage, her forehead beaded with sweat.
She cried out, her voice trembling with grief, “You heartless bastard–have you forgotten what my father did for you?
“And don’t you dare forget, you were the one who shamelessly begged to marry into my family!
“My father helped you all these years–have you no conscience at all?
“Without my father, there would be no Hayes Enterprises!”
Carol couldn’t bear it any longer. She had failed Julian.
But as for Albert, she owed him nothing.
All these years, she’d worked like a servant in this house without a single complaint.
Her father had done so much for the Hayes family.
And yet, this ungrateful man still dared to raise a hand to her.
Just thinking about it made her feel like her heart was shattering.
But Albert, smug and unrepentant, let out a cold laugh. “Then go join your dead father, why don’t you?”
He lifted his eyes slightly, signaling the butler to shut the door.
The butler froze, and despite the desperate, pleading look Carol gave him, he clenched his fists, gave a small nod, and said, “Yes, sir.”
