Every second of his time was precious.
The secretary was still torn inside, because there were plenty of rumors about Daniel in the business
world.
If she agreed to him, her fate was obvious–she would become just another one of those women, known to
everyone.
That was something she truly couldn’t do.
Though she loved money, she couldn’t throw away her life for it.
Gritting her teeth, she still couldn’t bring herself to agree.
“Then, Mr. Lewis, forget it. I won’t trouble you any further.”
Daniel raised an eyebrow. Hearing her response, he was genuinely a little surprised.
After all, he had thought she wouldn’t be able to hold her ground and would just say yes.
Yet in the end, she refused, and that caught him off guard.
“What? You don’t want to keep your position as secretary here?”
Tears welled in her eyes as she said, “Forget it. I think you deserve a better secretary. Someone like me is
just a small–timer–I should go find a job that suits me.”
Daniel didn’t say a word. Instead, he kicked her aside.
“In that case, don’t waste my time.
“My time is valuable, and I have no interest in wasting it here with you.”
The secretary fell to the floor nearby, her elbow and arm scraped in several places.
Even so, she didn’t utter a single complaint but instead smiled at him.
“Alright, Mr. Lewis, I’ll leave right away.
“Don’t worry, I’ll never appear in front of you again to be an eyesore.”
Daniel said nothing, simply stepping over her as he strode past.
Seeing this, the secretary’s expression faltered for a moment, but she still kept her composure.
Someone like her could only go along with Daniel.
She knew that if she kept resisting, it would do her no good.

If that was the case, then why bother?
Wasting time like this wouldn’t benefit her at all.
She also knew what Daniel was capable of.
If she kept tangling with him, it wouldn’t do her any good.
Instead, she’d just become a laughingstock.
She glanced to the side and saw the company receptionist craning her neck to watch, clearly enjoying
the show.
Her face flushed from her neck all the way up, turning as red as a boiled shrimp.
She no longer had the face to stay there.
As soon as Daniel entered the company, she scrambled to her feet and hurried away.
She had thought she might earn the man’s sympathy, but now it was clear she was nothing but a joke.
This world was truly full of selfishness.
After waiting here for so long, she realized she had only been clowning around–what a joke.
Humiliated, she slunk off, unable to stay there any longer.
She also knew that after this, she was probably blacklisted in the industry.
After all, offending Daniel meant offending the entire field.
There was no longer a place for her in this business.
Realizing this, she knew she shouldn’t linger here–she might as well use the time to learn something
new.
Meanwhile, as Daniel watched her leave, a shadow flickered in his eyes.
He had initially thought he could make use of the secretary.
