Joseph glanced up and saw the assistant still standing there, and his irritation flared.
“Enough. Stop standing around here.”
He waved a dismissive hand. “Spend the rest of your time keeping a close watch on Daniel. If you notice any frequent contact between him and Walton Corporation, report to me immediately.”
“Yes, I understand.”
The assistant lifted her eyes briefly, biting her lip hard, not daring to utter a single protest.
All she could do was obey Joseph completely. Whatever he wanted, she had to deliver.
Otherwise, she couldn’t withstand his anger–she simply wasn’t in a position to.
Seeing her silent obedience, Joseph’s mood eased slightly. As long as everyone followed his orders, only
then did he feel satisfied.
“Go. And don’t come here unless it’s important.”
Relieved, the assistant finally exhaled, escaping the office as though pardoned.
Joseph’s temper had grown so unpredictable recently.
She couldn’t gauge when he would be in a good mood anymore–there was no pattern at all.
Left with no choice, she could only give in to his every demand.
The assistant thought that if she was more careful–extremely careful–then maybe she wouldn’t make so many mistakes.

After the assistant left, Joseph still felt a knot of anger trapped in his chest with nowhere to release it.
He couldn’t shake the feeling that things weren’t so simple, as if a hidden hand were pulling all the
strings.
But for now, there was nothing he could do.
All he could manage was to keep watch, to monitor Daniel closely, and to make sure he didn’t maintain
close contact with Aurora.
His eyes grew darker as he stared at the documents scattered across his desk.
If Aurora really had resorted to something underhanded, he would expose her–he wouldn’t let her get
away with it so easily.
This matter needed a clear conclusion; letting it end so simply wasn’t his style, especially since this woman had thrown him into prison more than once–now it was his turn to strike back.
If he ever caught hold of any weakness, he would never let it go.
With that thought, Joseph pulled out his phone and opened the album, staring at the photos his private investigator had sent him. A chill spread through his chest.
His lips twisted into a mocking smile. “Well done. Women like this always need putting in their place.
“Fine. When the chance comes, I won’t let a single one of them off.”
