Chapter 1123
Aurora could clearly feel her cheeks burning, the heat spreading through her whole body.
But looking at the man in front of her, aside from his uneven breath and lips tinged red from her lipstick, he seemed even more radiant than before.
She couldn’t help but mutter, “I told you, I just had my makeup done. Couldn’t you hold back for once?”
Lucas rubbed his nose awkwardly, leaning toward her with a coaxing smile, hoping for forgiveness.
Aurora shot him a glare. “Give me my bag.”
He understood immediately–she needed to touch up.
She took out a mirror, relieved to find it wasn’t too bad.
The products her stylist had used were high–end with strong staying power.
Apart from her lipstick fading a little and her hair being a bit messy, nothing was ruined.
With a few quick adjustments, Aurora was back to her flawless, untouchable self.
Lucas edged closer carefully, making her tense up again. “We’re about to walk into the banquet hall- don’t you dare try anything now.”
Her nervous expression almost made him laugh.
“I just want to fix your hair,” he said helplessly.
Only then did Aurora exhale in relief.
She leaned toward him. “Alright, go ahead then.”
They were nearly at the banquet, and there were details she couldn’t check on her own.
Instead, Lucas pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. “Perfect. Don’t be so tense.”
Aurora froze, her ears instantly turning crimson. “Alright, let’s tidy up a bit and then get out of the car.”
“Mm.” Lucas wiped the corner of his lips casually, ready to step out.
Up front, lan heard the movement and let out a long breath of relief.
God knew, he had been driving the long way around on purpose.
Because he knew Aurora wouldn’t be swayed by beauty, that her mind would still be fixed on important
matters.
But if he stopped the car too abruptly, it would surely ruin the mood in the backseat.

Ian wasn’t a fool–if he really did that, the scolding would fall on him. He might even see his pay docked.
That was exactly why he drove a few extra circles, trying to keep his boss in good spirits.
This way, nothing would interrupt the couple’s mood.
Once they had straightened themselves out, Ian finally spoke at the right moment. “Miss Aurora, we’ve arrived.”
Aurora answered at once, “Alright, I know.”
She glanced at Lucas and whispered, “That’s enough, let’s get out.”
Her meaning was clear–no more fooling around.
Lucas pouted faintly, saying nothing more.
He could see it too–when the time wasn’t right, Aurora would never indulge him.
Something flickered in his eyes as his thoughts darkened.
Looking at this dazzling woman beside him, his heart clenched painfully.
He didn’t want anyone else to see her like this. He wanted to hide her away where no one could ever find
her.
Closing his eyes, Lucas tried to shake off the thought.
He had always known Aurora wasn’t meant to be hidden.
She was meant to shine, to step into her own radiant stage.
