Chapter 1162
“Yes, Miss Aurora, what brings you into our circle today?”
“Truly an honor–your presence alone makes our little private room shine.”
Hearing their words, Aurora’s smile faded slightly.
Megan quickly stepped in to defend her. “Hey, what’s with you people?”
She had brought Aurora here to relax, not to let this rabble mock her.
Megan had always been straightforward, saying whatever was on her mind.
Aurora tugged at Megan’s sleeve, knowing these were her acquaintances. She figured she ought to give them some face.
She herself didn’t care, but Megan still had to keep her footing in this circle.
So, Aurora answered calmly, “It’s fine. Since everyone’s so curious about me, I don’t mind. I am indeed a Walton heiress. Is there really anything about that worth questioning?”
Her frankness left the group momentarily speechless.
They had already made their dislike plain, yet she showed no reaction at all.
If they pushed any further, it would only make them look bad.
“No problem, no problem. Since Miss Walton is willing to join us, of course we’re glad.”
The one leading them was named Leon Ray. With his hair dyed bright red and a cigarette dangling from his lips, he looked every bit the reckless type.
Just a glance told Aurora he was the careless, swaggering sort.
And with Leon’s words setting the tone, the others let it go, offering Aurora awkward smiles.
After all, they all mixed in the same circles.
Besides, with a beauty like Aurora among them, they even felt a touch of intrigue.
The other women, however, eyed her with jealousy.
Someone this beautiful, showing up here of all places–surely she wasn’t clean.
What was she pretending to be so high and mighty for?
Megan, though, paid no attention to any of that.
She only ever ended up hanging around this group because of Leon.

In this circle, she felt a kind of freedom, which was why she stuck around.
Megan clearly remembered the first time. She had gone to a bar to drink her troubles away and happened to run into them.
At the start, she wanted nothing to do with them.
But Leon had been relentless.
He even ordered the same drink as her and, ignoring her refusal, clinked his glass against hers. “All alone, beautiful? Why not have a drink with us instead of being bored?”
“Get lost. Don’t get in my way.” Megan warned sharply. “I don’t need company. Don’t waste my time.”
She had only wanted to drink alone and clear her head, not get tangled up with thugs like them.
But Leon clearly didn’t see it that way.
Seeing Megan’s fiery personality only made him more intrigued.
It had been a long time since he’d met such a fierce, untamed woman.
“We’re all here to have fun. Why spoil the mood? Just have a couple drinks with us–you could call it making friends.”
Leon refused to give up, repeating the invitation again and again.
At first, Megan ignored him completely. She finished her drink and made to leave right after.
She had no intention of wasting time in the bar.
She knew perfectly well what kind of people they were.
Spending time with them was nothing but a waste of her life.
