Jason understood Grace’s state of mind. He also knew that staying here wouldn’t be of much use.
It was better to give her the time she needed to rest.
“Alright then, Madam Grace, you should rest. I won’t disturb you anymore.”
Grace nodded without saying much, leaning back in her chair, utterly exhausted.
Just before leaving, Jason remembered the issue with Lewis.
He hadn’t wanted to trouble her, but the matter was urgent.
If it wasn’t resolved, it would impact the company’s projects, especially the development on the southern
land.
“Madam Grace, back to the original matter,” Jason said after much hesitation. “I know I shouldn’t trouble you right now, but I need to mention it.”
“You mean the southern land deal?” Grace opened her eyes weakly, glancing at him.
Jason nodded. “That project was always handled by Miss Aurora. Now, on Daniel’s side, he won’t acknowledge anyone else. He only trusts her. Without her, we can’t move forward, and the project will
stall.”
“Can’t someone else take over?” Grace’s voice carried her weariness.
When Aurora left, why hadn’t there been a proper handover? Why did she leave in such haste?
“It really won’t work, Madam Grace,” Jason sighed, equally drained.
“I’ve made it clear–the other side only recognizes Miss Aurora. Without her, we have no way forward.
The work can’t continue.”
“Alright, I understand. Leave it for now.”
Grace waved her hand, dismissing him.
Jason bowed his head slightly. Seeing her like this pained him, but he had to make sure she understood
the situation.
If they delayed any longer, it would only worsen things.
It would harm the company’s interests, and with the stock already slipping, if Walton Corporation failed to secure that project, losses would be inevitable.
Not long after Jason left, the door to Grace’s office was knocked on again.

But she still forced herself to respond, “Come in.”
Grace kept her eyes closed, not even looking to see who it was–she simply had no energy to care.
The next second, a pair of soft hands pressed gently against her temples.
The throbbing pain there eased almost instantly.
She relaxed into the touch for a moment before finally opening her eyes to see who it was.
“Tessa, what brings you here?” Grace asked softly.
“Of course I came to see you, Mom.” As Tessa spoke, her hands kept moving, massaging carefully. “Mom, I heard everything you just said to Jason while I was outside.”
At that, Grace’s expression froze.
“Then, Tessa, what do you think?” Grace followed her daughter’s lead.
Tessa stopped her hands, circled around the desk, and stood before her mother, looking at her intently.”
Mom, since I heard all of it, of course I want to help ease your burdens.
“I don’t want to be the little girl hiding behind you anymore, leaving everything for you to shoulder alone. Watching you work yourself so hard–it hurts me deeply.”
