Chapter 1193
Seeing Tessa like this, Grace finally let out a long sigh. “Alright, I’ll speak with HR.
“This project will be handed to you first. Try reaching out. Even if you can’t pull it off, that’s fine–I won’t
blame you.
“After all, you’re only just starting out. Everything takes time.”
Grace added once more, “But if your health gives you any trouble, you must tell me right away. Don’t ever push yourself alone. You need to know, in my heart you matter more than any project.”
Listening to these empty words, Tessa’s smile never wavered.
Grace, value family more than profits? Impossible.
Her comforting lines were nothing but nonsense.
If she truly cared more about her daughters than value, then why had she discarded Aurora the moment she stopped being useful?
It was because to Grace, both of them were nothing but chess pieces.
Tessa had always known her mother was a woman driven only by profit.
No matter how often she claimed to love her daughters, Tessa had never believed it.
In her eyes, everything had to be fought for with her own hands.
She would never be the kind of person who waited, palms upturned.
As long as she was allowed access to this project, she was confident she could make Daniel change his mind.
Why should Aurora be able to succeed where she could not?
Everything was possible.
“Mom, I know you care for me, but I need to grow up. I can’t hide under your wings forever.”
Tessa promised solemnly, “If you really can’t trust me yet, then let me start at the bottom. As long as you’re willing to give me the chance, that’s enough.”
Hearing this, Grace couldn’t help but feel moved.
She hadn’t expected Tessa to show even deeper devotion than her younger sister. Perhaps the fault had been hers all along.
That Tessa was willing to start from the very bottom of the company without complaint made Grace
1/2
pause in reflection.
She had always used Tessa’s health as an excuse to keep her from company affairs.
But was it truly for her daughter’s sake, or was there another motive behind it?
The truth was, Grace feared that one day Tessa might betray both her and the company.
After all, years in the chair of power had taught her to view everything with caution, suspicion woven into habit. It was inevitable.
Otherwise, how could a woman like her have held this position for so many years without being dragged down?
Without ruthless methods, she would’ve been devoured long ago by the wolves and tigers circling her.
But when she looked into Tessa’s earnest eyes, Grace finally let out a long breath and relented a step.
“No need to start from the bottom. You’ll take the position of company director.”
Her words struck like a hammer.
At once, Tessa’s head snapped up, her surprise written plain on her face.
She had expected her retreating strategy to earn her a respectable role.
But never had she imagined Grace would grant her the title of director–second only to General Manager.
Of course, she knew her tactic of yielding first had stirred Grace’s guilt.
But that the role of director had come this quickly was beyond her calculations. One step away from the
very top.
