Chapter 1200
But as Leonard watched Megan working busily, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything.
Forget it, he’d find another chance to explain someday.
A wave of disappointment swept over him.

Letting Megan see through his feelings left him unsettled, like he’d lost something he couldn’t name.
He had thought he’d hidden it well, but clearly, he was fooling no one.
He hurried over to help her move the plants, though his whole body felt awkward.
Megan, however, didn’t care about such details.
Instead, she gave him a sharp look and said seriously, “Alright, if you’re here to move the plants, then keep your focus on them. Stop overthinking everything else.”
“I wasn’t trying to make it a big deal,” she added quickly. “I just pointed out what was obvious–that’s all. Don’t read too much into it.”
Seeing Leonard’s stiff, uncomfortable expression, she instantly regretted saying anything. But the words had slipped out faster than her brain could stop them.
“It’s fine, I won’t take it the wrong way,” Leonard replied quickly, seizing on a change of subject. “By the way, where’s Aurora? I haven’t seen her.”
The second the words left his mouth, he wished he could bite his tongue off.
He’d only meant to steer the conversation elsewhere, but somehow he’d landed on the most awkward topic possible.
The air between them grew heavier, almost painfully so. Even Megan, usually oblivious to such tension, picked up on it this time.
She cleared her throat lightly, as if to smooth over the moment.
“Aurora’s busy handling the contract. She should be here soon–after all, the renovation plans are pretty important.”
“When’s the opening?” Leonard asked earnestly, as though nothing awkward had happened at all.
But inside, he was kicking himself.
Could it be that spending more time around Megan was rubbing off on him?
Sometimes he spoke without thinking, blurting out whatever came to mind.

Now, looking back, he regretted it. Was he really that careless–or was it because, deep down, he did have different feelings for Megan?
“Opening’s at the start of next month–half a month from now,” Megan sighed, clearly weighed down.
“So, Aurora and I are tied up with renovations. Once the date’s set, it can’t be changed. We even asked someone to pick it for us.”
“You two actually believe in that sort of thing?” Leonard couldn’t help but laugh.
“Of course we do,” Megan shot back, dead serious. “Better safe than sorry. And I’m warning you–don’t you dare make fun of it.”
She looked so stern she seemed ready to clap a hand over his mouth at any second.
Leonard clamped his lips shut, nodding solemnly. “Alright, my bad. Next time I’ll treat it with the proper respect.”
“That’s better.”
Megan gave his shoulder a firm pat, her tone mock–solemn. “Buddy, just stick with me and get this work done. Aurora will be back soon, and we need all these plants moved out.”
“Got it, don’t worry,” Leonard replied.
