Chapter 1210
The coffee arrived quickly.
In no time, two cups were set down in front of them.
At Aurora’s words, Daniel didn’t try to hide anything.
Instead, he smiled and said, “As expected of you, Miss Walton–nothing slips past your eyes.”
Aurora gave a faint smile, simply stirring her coffee without replying.
“Miss Walton, you’ve left Walton Corporation now, haven’t you? Then what happens to the Southside land project we discussed earlier?”
Aurora froze at his words.
Her expression turned blank–clearly, she had forgotten all about it.
Seeing her look that way, Daniel gasped. “Don’t tell me you actually forgot?”
“Ah–no, no,” Aurora said quickly, trying to cover it up. “It’s just that things have been hectic lately, and I may have overlooked it a little.”
Her spoon moved faster in the cup, betraying her unease. How could she outright admit that she really had forgotten? Saying so would only embarrass him.
Daniel seemed to realize as much, and his face shifted from awkwardness to understanding.
After all, Walton Corporation had gone through a major upheaval–it was no surprise.
“Then what’s your plan now, Miss Walton?” he asked.
Truthfully, Daniel wasn’t sure how to proceed.
The project had originally been handed to Aurora by Desmond.
But now that she was no longer at the company, he didn’t know whether to keep working with her or with the corporation behind her.
If it was the latter, he could simply sign with Walton Corporation directly.
But without knowing Lucas‘ true intentions, he didn’t dare make that decision rashly.
Aurora felt a flicker of uncertainty. “So, Mr. Lewis, are you saying you want to work with me directly?”
“Yes. After all, you and I were the ones who discussed this project,” Daniel said, clearly pleased that she finally caught his meaning.

“From the start, I only agreed to work with Walton Corporation because I recognized your ability.
“But now that you’re no longer with them, I can’t just hand the project over to the company behind you.”
Aurora took a sip of her coffee to steady herself. “You flatter me, Mr. Lewis. I never realized I had such influence, that you’d see me this way.”
Daniel didn’t hesitate. “Miss Walton, you’re being far too modest. Your capabilities are well known in the
industry.
“Everyone’s seen you secure project after project. That’s your achievement–and your reputation is the best proof you could have.”
He went on praising her. “There are plenty of companies waiting for the chance to work with you. So, saying otherwise is nothing but modesty.”
Still, Aurora felt something was off. Daniel was a heavyweight in the industry, with no shortage of projects under his control.
For him to be this courteous to someone who had only been with Walton Corporation a short time? It didn’t quite add up.
“But you can see my situation now,” Aurora said, gesturing toward the townhouse beside them.
“My studio’s still under construction. I’m afraid I might disappoint your expectations. Would your project be able to wait?”
