Hearing that, Daniel began to hesitate.
He was caught between both sides.
“This…” He scratched his head awkwardly, clearly at a loss.
Aurora noticed his conflicted look and couldn’t quite understand why, but she still spoke plainly. “Mr. Lewis, I can see the position you’re in. There’s actually a simple solution–just follow your heart. Who is it you truly want to work with?”
“Who I want to work with… really depends on your attitude, Miss Walton.” The words slipped out of Daniel’s mouth before he could stop himself.
Aurora froze, not reacting at first.
“Mr. Lewis, what do you mean by that?”
Meeting her questioning gaze, Daniel instantly regretted what he had said. If she picked up on it,
wouldn’t that expose Lucas’s involvement? How would he explain himself later?
“I didn’t mean anything,” he said quickly, forcing a laugh. “Like I said before, I value your ability, Miss Walton. From the very beginning, you’re the one I’ve wanted to work with.”
Aurora fell into thought, hesitating as well.
After all, she no longer had anything to do with Walton Corporation.
She had broken away completely.
To just hand this project back to Walton Corporation outright–her heart resisted the idea.
“But you can see my situation. My studio won’t be up and running anytime soon.” Aurora’s tone carried her own conflict. “What if that delays your project?”
Daniel wavered too at her words. She had a point–what mattered most was the project itself.
If delays piled up, it would be his own interests that suffered in the end.
Yet when he thought of Lucas, he realized he couldn’t easily explain that side either.
It truly left him torn.
“But…” Daniel trailed off, unable to find the right words.
Aurora finally understood what he meant.
So, she spoke up to ease the tension. “Alright then, let me ask you one question, Mr. Lewis. Do you

actually want to work with Walton Corporation?”
“If you were still at Walton Corporation, then yes, I would work with them.” His reply was firm, without the hesitation from before.
Hearing that, Aurora understood completely.
“But the fact is, I’m no longer with Walton Corporation.”
She smiled. “If you weren’t choosing them for their strength alone, but because you wanted to work with me, then my advice is–you don’t need to work with them at all.”
Her decisiveness caught Daniel off guard. He had expected her to drag things out, at least for a while.
Now he realized she was someone who made decisions quickly and firmly.
He couldn’t help but admire that. To him, anyone with that kind of strength–man or woman–was worthy
of respect.
“Miss Walton, I didn’t expect you to be so straightforward. I’ve learned something from you today,” Daniel said sincerely, offering an apology.
Aurora, seeing his earnest expression, felt a little embarrassed.
She quickly waved her hand.
“Mr. Lewis, there’s no need to apologize. The truth is, this situation really is my responsibility. I started discussing the project with you before I had settled things at home. Now that this has happened, it’s not something either of us wanted to see.”
