Daniel hadn’t been like this before.
Daniel felt even more delighted–he never expected Joseph to catch on to this as well.
He used to think Joseph was nothing but a spoiled heir who only took over his father’s company, someone propped up by his family.

“Mr. Hunt, you’ve actually made me see you in a whole new light.”
Hearing this, Joseph tilted his chin slightly and said with all seriousness, “So, who is the person you’re so wary of?”
His curiosity was piqued.
Daniel drew in a deep breath. “Mr. Hunt, do you really want to know?”
“What, even I’m not allowed to hear it?” Joseph couldn’t understand why Daniel was making it so mysterious.
After thinking it over, Daniel realized there wasn’t much reason to hide it. He broke into a laugh. “It’s not that. It’s just that I figured you’ve probably met him already.”
“Who is it?” Joseph ran through everyone he knew in his head, but no one stood out.
“Lucas Carter!”
The moment he heard the name, Joseph’s mind froze.
“You mean that pretty boy?” Joseph asked in disbelief.
He couldn’t accept it–how could it be Lucas?
In his mind, Lucas had always been nothing more than a pretty face clinging to Aurora’s side.
Now, that man could actually threaten Daniel. Who would believe it if word got out?
The moment Joseph said “pretty boy,” Daniel nearly jumped out of his skin, wishing he could rush over
and clamp Joseph’s mouth shut.
“What nonsense are you spouting? Pretty boy?” Daniel glanced around nervously, as if afraid someone might be eavesdropping through the walls.

Then he remembered–this was his own office. He was simply overreacting.
Joseph frowned, sensing something was off. “So why are you so afraid of him?”
“Do you really not know, or are you just pretending?”
Daniel stared at him in disbelief, not sure what he meant.
After all, anyone in high society should know of Lucas‘ existence.
But looking at Joseph’s expression now, he didn’t seem to be lying.
