They were both her daughters. No matter how fiercely they fought, the company would only keep moving
forward.
After all, neither of them would ever truly cut ties with their mother.
In the end, the project would still land in the family’s hands.
In other words, it could never escape their mother’s control.
The secretary couldn’t help but sigh. “Mr. Lewis, you really see things clearly.”
“After all these years in business, if I couldn’t even figure this much out, I might as well let you sit in my chair,” Daniel replied, his tone taking on a rare seriousness.
But the secretary treated it as a joke.
After all, how could something like that ever happen to her?
“Mr. Lewis, please don’t joke like that. Someone like me can only rely on you for support.”
She knew exactly what kind of words pleased a man.
Sure enough, Daniel lifted her chin and pressed a gentle kiss against her lips.
It was the first time he’d shown such patience with a woman.
The secretary’s heart raced with excitement.
As he kissed her, she eagerly responded.
The two of them locked in another embrace.
The next day.
Tessa arrived with sincerity, seeking out Daniel.
The secretary, recalling everything from the day before, was indeed waiting for her at the door.
This time, when the receptionist saw Tessa, he moved to stop her. But she immediately pulled out the appointment slip and slammed it on the desk.
Her tone was sharp and cutting. “Open your eyes and take a good look at what I’m holding.”
The receptionist was stunned by her words but still lowered his gaze to check.
And sure enough, this time–there really was an appointment.

“See this? This is an official appointment letter from Mr. Lewis’s secretary herself.”

Tessa let out a cold laugh. “I’m here to discuss a project with Mr. Lewis–not to waste time with the likes of you, standing guard at the door like a watchdog.”
“You…”
Tessa snapped back immediately. “You what? You can’t even get a full sentence out. Just stay here and play watchdog for the rest of your life.”
She remembered the receptionist’s arrogant attitude from yesterday, and the anger flared all over again. Now, at last, she had her chance for payback.
The receptionist was furious at Tessa’s arrogance but had no choice.
She was right–Tessa had the appointment letter. There was nothing the receptionist could do.
Forcing a smile, the receptionist took a deep breath. “Very well, Miss Walton. Please take this elevator to the top floor.”
Tessa gave a cold snort and ignored her completely.
A mere watchdog wasn’t worth her attention.
The receptionist clenched her fists as she watched Tessa walk away.
All this fuss just for a project? Was that necessary?
She’d seen countless top executives, but none as overbearing as this woman.
Someone like her couldn’t possibly secure a deal with Daniel.
And even if she did, it wouldn’t make them truly wealthy.
Because the wealthy carried themselves with refinement, not like this woman strutting around full of
herself.
But Tessa had no idea what the receptionist was thinking.
She reached Daniel’s office and was about to knock when a voluptuous woman with wavy hair stepped out and blocked her path. “Hello, you must be Miss Walton, the one who made the appointment yesterday?”
