Chapter 1227
Daniel was moved, if only a little, by Tessa’s sincerity.
And truth be told, this contract would bring him considerable profit.
“All right then, just leave the contract here. I’ll think it over,” Daniel said with a faint smile.
Tessa froze.
She had already offered such generous terms–why was he still unwilling?
“Mr. Lewis, are there conditions in the contract you’re dissatisfied with?” she pressed, unable to hold back her curiosity.
She couldn’t understand it. She had practically handed him free profit, so why hesitate?
By all logic, he should have accepted immediately.
Yet all she got was, “I’ll consider it.”
That was hard to swallow.
“No, the terms are quite satisfactory,” Daniel said, flipping through the contract again.
He was indeed pleased with what she proposed.
But the thought of Lucas made him pause.
Hearing that only deepened Tessa’s confusion.
“In that case, when will we sign?” she asked quickly. She had always been a woman of action, and now, with his words, she was sure he had no objections to the deal itself.
Something else was holding him back.
What she wanted was for Daniel to put aside whatever doubts he had and simply move forward with the partnership.
“Let’s wait a little, Miss Walton,” Daniel deflected smoothly.
“We’re both businesspeople–there’s no need to rush. Besides, I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere. If this project proves suitable, I’ll be the one to contact you.”
Hearing Daniel’s words, Tessa finally felt a weight lift from her chest, though she still wasn’t fully at ease.
After all, the contract wasn’t signed yet.
“I hope you’ll give me more consideration, Mr. Lewis,” Tessa pressed on. “You’ve seen for yourself, the

terms I’ve offered are very attractive. We’re practically giving up all our profit and letting you take the
earnings.”
Daniel nodded with a smile. “Miss Walton, I can see your sincerity, and I understand what you’re trying to say. Rest assured, I’ll give it serious thought.”
“Good. If you’ll truly consider it, then I can be at ease.”
Tessa smiled and nodded, then politely excused herself. “I still have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be heading back.”
“All right, I’ll have someone escort you out.”
Tessa shook her head with a smile. “No need, I can manage on my own.”
“Still, let my secretary accompany you.”
Seeing Daniel’s insistence, she didn’t refuse.
“Then I’ll trouble you.”
Daniel nodded with a smile.
The secretary was waiting by the door when Tessa stepped out.
Catching sight of her, the secretary gave a small nod. “Miss Walton, this way please.”
Tessa returned the courtesy. “Thank you, I appreciate it.”
“There’s no need to thank me. It’s just part of my job.”
The secretary maintained her professional smile throughout.
Now that she knew Tessa was the Walton heiress, her attitude had grown even friendlier.
If she could build a friendship with Tessa, her own path to success would be that much smoother.
