Chapter 1247
Grace and Tessa’s faces both darkened in shock at his words.
Megan couldn’t help clapping her hands. “Lucas, I think that’s the most righteous thing you’ve ever said.”
Every word struck right to her heart, and even Aurora found herself nodding again and again.
Some things were too hard to say to her own mother, but coming from Lucas, they fit perfectly.
After all, though she was married to him, he was still only half a member of the Walton family. Even if he spoke
so bluntly, no one dared touch him.
Ian, too, looked at Lucas with open admiration.
Earlier, he had worried that Grace and Tessa might bully Aurora.
Now he realized those fears were unnecessary. With a man who truly loved her standing at her side, her future
path would surely be smoother.
Grace’s eyes widened, unable to process what he had just said. Was this really something a younger generation
should dare to say to her?
“You’re utterly unreasonable!” she shouted, jabbing a finger toward Lucas‘ nose. “Speaking like that–do you
even see me as your
elder?”
“Sorry, I only respect those who love my wife,” Lucas replied, his arm tightening around Aurora.
His words gave her all the face she could ever need.
Tessa’s eyes burned with jealousy as she stared at the spot where the two of them leaned together, especially at Lucas’s hand holding Aurora.
Why was a man this good not hers?
Why had her man been that useless Julian? Even now, no one knew where he had gone.
With that dim–witted look of his, he’d probably already died by the roadside.
All the better!
As long as he never returned, her secret would remain safe.

Megan noticed the way Tessa was staring and immediately stepped in front of Aurora and Lucas, glaring back. “What are you looking at? Keep staring and I’ll gouge your eyes out.”
“You… vulgar!” Tessa was completely powerless against Megan.
To her, Megan was nothing but a rude, uncouth girl, arguing with her would only drag down her own dignity.
Grace, seeing Megan’s lack of restraint, pressed a hand to her chest, left speechless.
But Megan noticed how Grace kept clutching her chest without actually showing any real signs of illness.
She realized then that Grace was just putting on an act.
Rolling her eyes, she said impatiently, “Enough already. You’ve been holding your chest all this time and nothing’s happened. Stop pretending, I’m sick of watching it.”
With Lucas standing there, Megan’s tone had grown even bolder than before. With her cousin backing her, she
had nothing to fear.
Grace looked at Megan with some confusion.
Just earlier, before Lucas arrived, she had been timid and cautious. But now that he was here, Megan seemed
like a completely different person.
“Megan, it really is you who corrupted Aurora. My good daughter–look at her now, acting so arrogant just
because she’s been around you.”
Grace jabbed her finger at Megan as she scolded.
Megan’s eyes widened. To see the same Grace she’d once known, now so unreasonable, left her stunned.
“It’s clearly your fault. Why can’t anyone point it out?”
Furious, Grace turned away from her, no longer willing to argue.
She looked directly at Aurora instead. “And you, are you just going to stand there and let someone else bully your mother? Do you even see me as your elder anymore?”
