Chapter 1248
Aurora’s face was cold. “I saw it clearly. You were the one who spoke rudely first. Given that, Megan was only defending herself.”
“Fine, fine, fine!” Grace clutched her chest, repeating the word several times, too furious to even form proper
sentences.
With a sharp huff, she turned to Tessa. “Tessa, let’s not stay here any longer. I don’t want you being corrupted
by these people.”
Tessa glanced at Grace and saw that she truly was rattled. If that was the case, then wasn’t this her perfect
chance?
Putting on an air of helplessness, she cast a look at Aurora before echoing her mother’s words.
“Mom, don’t be angry. Sister probably just hasn’t figured things out yet. Give her some time, she’ll come around. She’s still young.”
“Young? She’s already in her twenties–what’s young about that?” Grace snapped, her temper flaring even
hotter.
“You’re only two years older than her, yet you’re so much more mature and sensible. In the end, it’s because
she has no respect for me as her mother.”
Aurora clenched her fists at those words, but she kept silent, unwilling to explain herself.
After all, she had already left the company. Whatever Grace said now had little to do with her.
As the two of them left, Tessa shot Aurora a mocking, triumphant glance.
Now she had completely secured Grace’s side.
She no longer had to worry about Grace changing her mind once she saw Aurora’s true abilities that the
shareholders and others in the company had already witnessed.
If Grace ever did soften, Tessa would lose out. But after today’s confrontation, that possibility was gone.
Megan caught sight of Tessa’s taunting look and couldn’t help throwing a few air punches at her retreating
back.

Aurora pulled Megan back. “Enough, don’t bother with her. If she wants to feel pleased with herself, let her.
“It has nothing to do with us. We just need to live our own lives without interfering with each other.”
Lucas noticed Aurora lowering her eyes, clearly in low spirits.
Even so, she forced herself to stay composed, comforting Megan instead.
Watching her like this made Lucas’s heart ache.
He took hold of Aurora’s shoulders, turning her to face him.
“Aurora, if something is weighing on you, you can tell me directly. Don’t keep everything bottled up inside,
alright?
“You have to remember, we’re husband and wife. You can tell me anything. If you keep it all in, it hurts me
too.”
Meeting his earnest gaze, Aurora saw only her own confused, unsettled reflection in his eyes.
For a moment, she panicked, her glance darting away. “That’s not what I meant. Don’t worry about me.”
But Lucas wouldn’t let her escape. He wanted her to face her own feelings.
“Aurora, really think about it. Don’t carry everything alone. Whatever happens, you still have me.”
Hearing this, Aurora felt her heart tremble.
It was true–today, Lucas had helped her so much.
If not for him stepping forward, there were many things she wouldn’t have known how to say to Grace.
