Chapter 1415Â
Though Tessa’s lips were curved in a smile, it never quite reached her eyes.Â
Something in that look made Arnold’s stomach twist with unease, as if danger were quietly circling him.Â
“Miss Tessa, is there something you need?” he asked, forcing his tone to stay steady.Â
This time, Tessa didn’t bother to hide her intentions. “Arnold, you’ve worked in our house for so many years. By now, you should know what to say and what not to.”Â
A cold ripple ran through him. He understood immediately what she meant.Â
He quickly put on an innocent expression. “Miss Tessa, I’m just a housekeeper. I only handle what’s within my duties. I don’t know anything else.”Â
“Really?” Her eyes narrowed slightly, her smile sharpening. Clearly, she didn’t believe him.Â
“Of course, “Arnold replied without missing a beat. “I’m only a servant. I take care of the house, and that’s all. I don’t get involved in anything else.”Â
Tessa’s tone turned airy, but her words carried steel. “Good. Because if that ever changes–well, you’re not young anymore, are you? Maybe a long rest back home would do you some good.”Â
The threat hung in the air, unmistakable.Â
Arnold didn’t flinch. “You’re right, Miss Tessa. I’ll make sure to report anything important directly to you. I know where my place is. I’m just a housekeeper, nothing more.”Â
His quick show of loyalty seemed to please her. That was exactly the response she wanted.Â
Tessa’s smile softened, but the glint in her eyes remained. “That’s good to hear. I like people who know their place. And don’t worry, if you ever run into any trouble, you can always come to me. I’ll help however I can.”Â
She tilted her head slightly, her voice smooth as silk. “You’ve worked hard for so long. No need to tire yourself out at your age, right?”Â
Arnold nodded quickly, lowering his gaze. “You’re very thoughtful, Miss Tessa. Don’t worry, I’ll continue to serve the Walton family faithfully.”Â
“Good, then. You can get back to work. I’m a little tired myself,” Tessa said lightly before turning away.Â
She disappeared down the hall, leaving Arnold alone in the kitchen. He watched her retreating figure, his hands curling into tight fists at his sides.Â
So, she really was suspicious of him now. It seemed he’d have to be even more careful from this point on.Â
He couldn’t afford to lose this job–not after all these years. He’d grown too used to this house, to the rhythm of life here. Starting over somewhere else at his age would be nearly impossible.Â
Maybe she was right. He was just a housekeeper. What was the point of worrying about things that weren’t his concern?Â

Overseas.Â
After renting a villa, Joseph began a new life abroad, but his main goal hadn’t changed.Â
He was going to find Judy.Â
She had come all the way here behind his back, and that was something he couldn’t accept, especially after swearing she loved him, only to turn around and run off with another man.Â
