Chapter 1497

She’d already set several alarms and even asked her parents to check on her.

If she somehow didn’t wake up, they’d make sure she did. So, there was no need to worry, Megan had everything planned down to the last detail.

Aurora smiled approvingly and patted her on the shoulder. “Good. Let’s head to Bustin City and give it our best.”

“I can’t wait,” Megan replied eagerly.

As they spoke, Lucas walked up carrying their suitcases. “Make sure you stay safe out there. Call me if anything happens.”

Aurora waved her hand dismissively. “Relax, I’ll call, I promise.”

Megan teased from the side, “Wow, I didn’t think my cousin could be this clingy.”

The moment the words left her mouth, she met Lucas’ cold, warning stare.

Megan froze.

She immediately ducked behind Aurora, her body reacting faster than her brain. Clearly, teasing him was never a good idea. Cousin or not, Lucas’ authority wasn’t something to mess with, even Aurora’s presence couldn’t save her from that look.

Seeing the two of them like this, Aurora sighed helplessly. “Alright, that’s enough, both of you.”

Lucas straightened, completely serious. “I didn’t say a thing. You saw it yourself. Sshe was the one who started it.”

Just as Megan opened her mouth to protest, Aurora turned to her. “Megan, rein it in a little. Otherwise, next time your cousin decides to deal with you, I won’t be able to help.”

Megan pouted, looking more wronged than ever.

“Alright, alright, Aurora, you’re totally siding with my cousin now.”

Aurora feigned innocence. “Am I? I’m just being fair, that’s all.”

Lucas couldn’t help but laugh at her response, while poor Megan was left standing there as the only wounded soul in sight.

Then Lucas’s teasing expression faded, replaced by a calm seriousness. “If anything comes up, tell me right away. And if you’re unsure about something, call me first.”

He turned to Aurora. “Be careful out there. I’ll be waiting for you.”

Megan waved a hand dismissively. “Lucas, when did you get so naggy? You’re nothing like before.”

“You wouldn’t understand. You’re still single.”

Megan was speechless.

Twice in one morning, effortlessly defeated. Truly, he never missed. She turned away with a huff, deciding

silence was safer.

Aurora stepped in. “I got it, I got it. You don’t need to repeat yourself. Don’t worry, I’ll remember everything you said. But seriously, I’m going to miss the flight if I don’t go now.”

Only then did Lucas reluctantly let go of her hand. “Alright. Go on, then.”

Once his figure disappeared from view, Aurora and Megan headed toward the boarding gate together.

Back at the gate, Megan glanced at her. “You sure you can bear to leave him?”

Aurora gave her a sharp look. “Are you turning into him now? Even if I don’t want to, what can I do? This is work. There’s a line between work and life.”

“Exactly. That’s the spirit.” Megan nodded seriously, full of admiration.
