Lucas sat in his office, focused on reviewing the latest documents. 

What Yvonne had said about him going to Bustin City was true-his travel plan was real. 

After Aurora left, he had already made up his mind; he didn’t want to stay too far from her. 

If he lived nearby, she could reach him immediately whenever she needed anything. 

Lucas kept urging Desmond to finalize all the work for the next four days and to book a hotel in Bustin City as well. 

Desmond could only agree helplessly. 

He knew full well that Lucas was doing all this for Aurora. 

It was because Lucas wanted to clear his schedule so he could spend those days by her side without distraction. 

But that also meant trouble for him. 

He now had to rush through all the pending tasks. 

“Mr. Carter, trying to finish all this work might be a bit difficult,” Desmond said after some thought, choosing his words carefully. 

He knew exactly why Lucas was pushing this hard, but the workload was enormous. Trying to complete four days ‘ worth of tasks in one was nearly impossible. 

Even skipping meals and sleep wouldn’t be enough to get everything done. 

Lucas frowned. “Even if it’s difficult, it must be done.” 

Aurora was still waiting for him in Bustin City. He didn’t want to waste all his time at the office. 

He had his own priorities. 

He just needed to finish the extra work ahead of time; once he got there, he could take it easy while still being near her. 

Desmond understood exactly what Lucas was thinking, but that didn’t mean he could rest. 

Lucas could finally rest, but Desmond still had to stay at the company to keep working. In the end, he was the one suffering the most. 

“All right then.” 

Seeing that he couldn’t persuade him, Desmond had no choice but to help Lucas finish the recent workload. 

From another point of view, once Lucas left the company, everyone else could finally breathe a little easier too.

After several long hours of overtime, they managed to complete two to three days’ worth of work. 

As for the remaining tasks that couldn’t be finished in time, Lucas decided to bring them along to Bustin City. If necessary, he could handle them through an online meeting. 

“Is the hotel in Bustin City all set?” Lucas asked, glancing at Desmond. 

“Don’t worry, sir, everything’s been arranged.” 

Lucas nodded slightly. “Good. You’ve worked hard these days. When I come back, if everything at the company runs smoothly, I’ll make sure you get a bonus.” 

Desmond’s eyes lit up instantly. 

“Yes, sir. I’ll make sure everything gets done.” 

Who wouldn’t want a bonus? 

He worked this hard precisely for the money. 

Besides, it was just a few tiring days. 

Once Lucas headed off to Bustin City, he would be the one holding down the fort at headquarters, so the effort was worth it. And with a bonus promised, there was nothing to complain about. 

After another round of overtime, the team finally wrapped up the work. 

Later, Desmond picked up his phone and noticed something online. He hesitated, unsure whether to tell Lucas about it. 

He was worried it might affect Lucas’ mood. Given how close Lucas and Yvonne had always been, what if Lucas thought it was a trivial matter? 

Would he end up blaming him for being too nosy? 

Desmond couldn’t stop thinking about it. He was just an employee. Should he really meddle in his boss’ personal matters with a business partner?
