No matter how much he disliked Aurora, he still had to protect the family’s reputation. 

He never forgot the lessons Philip had drilled into him. 

The family had stood strong for generations because the younger ones always obeyed their elders. 

Besides, the main and branch lines weren’t closely connected. 

Each branch managed its own business, so they rarely interfered with one another, and that was the key. 

Their independence was what kept the family unshaken, because everyone had their own responsibilities.

That was Philip’s most important rule.

All of that came from Philip’s teachings. 

Thinking about it, Edwin sighed quietly. He realized Yvonne had acted rashly, but since he had already spoken up for her, there was no turning back now. 

Once the arrow was released, there was no drawing it back. He couldn’t suddenly switch sides and stand with Aurora-that was impossible. 

At the family dinner, he had already spoken against Aurora, and everyone knew he was clearly siding with 

Yvonne. 

Left with no choice, Edwin called her. 

It took quite a while before she finally answered, her tone arrogant. “Why are you calling me again?” 

“What, I just dropped you off and now you’re pretending you don’t know me?” 

Edwin almost found it laughable. They had just parted ways, and now she was acting like this toward him. 

Yvonne’s tone had been dismissive at first, but hearing his words, she softened a little.

“That’s not what I meant. You know this isn’t my turf, and I’m here for the show’s recording. I’m still trying to adjust to things, so I hope you understand.” 

She forced herself to sound polite, even though she didn’t really think Edwin would get angry. 

After all, he had always been like her loyal shadow, following her everywhere. 

She had always thought of him as a bit of a loafer, but she couldn’t deny that he treated her well, better than 

most. 

That was exactly why she acted so recklessly under his protection. 

As the saying went, those who are favored act without fear and Yvonne embodied that completely. 

Edwin’s lips curved into a sly smile. “Since you’ve said that, of course I can’t stay angry. Otherwise, I’d look like I’ve got no sense of chivalry.” 

Yvonne didn’t want to keep talking to him any longer.
