Chapter 1529

Yvonne didn’t seem to care about what Aurora said. “You don’t need to worry about that, Miss Walton. I have my

own ways.

“Now that we’re on the same show, I suppose it’s fate. I’m quite curious to see what kind of person you really are.”

“I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed, Miss Song,” Aurora replied evenly, neither humble nor arrogant. “I’ve always seen myself as an ordinary person. There’s nothing particularly special about me.

“So, if you’re hoping to find something in me, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed.”

Megan stood beside Aurora, watching Yvonne with a sharp, protective gaze, as if the woman might pose a threat.

Yvonne noticed her and raised a brow slightly. “You must be Miss Quinn, correct?”

“You remember me?” Megan sounded surprised. After all, during the family banquet at Lucas’ home, she was barely considered a distant relative and had no place to speak with the main family.

She hadn’t expected Yvonne to remember her after just one encounter-it genuinely caught her off guard.

After all, she and Yvonne had never been close.

Yvonne remained calm. “Of course I remember. You called Lucas your cousin, and he mentioned you to me a few

times.”

Although Megan found that unlikely, Yvonne had already said it so directly that she could only go along with it.

“I didn’t think my cousin would mention me in front of others.”

Yvonne smiled faintly. “Lucas is the kind of man who seems cold but is actually warm-hearted. Working with him has always been a pleasure.

“If there’s a chance, I’d love to collaborate with him again and achieve even greater success together.”

Aurora’s eyes flickered at that. A faint discomfort stirred inside her. What exactly did Yvonne mean by that?

Was she trying to show off right in front of her?

Did she not know that Aurora was Lucas’ wife?

Saying something like that in front of her was clearly meant to cause misunderstanding.

Aurora couldn’t explain why, but she could feel the hostility hidden beneath Yvonne’s polite tone.

Although Aurora couldn’t quite figure out where this hostility came from, she had a few guesses.

It was probably because of Lucas, and he was indeed exceptional. He must have met plenty of women before her.

So, the fact that she was the one standing beside him now naturally drew envy.

Could it be that Yvonne was one of those women?

From the moment Aurora first saw her, she thought Yvonne was impressive.

But if Yvonne had once admired Lucas, then her unprovoked hostility suddenly made sense.

She was acting this way because of him.

Yvonne withdrew her gaze from Megan. The only reason she’d greeted her just now was to draw over the people

around Aurora.

In truth, she didn’t remember Megan clearly at all—their only encounter had been a brief moment at a family

banquet.

There was no way she could have such a strong impression.

Megan wasn’t exactly a prominent figure in the Carter family either.

Even though she called Lucas her cousin, their families were worlds apart.

After all, they didn’t even share the same last name; how could they possibly be considered equals?
