Chapter 1544

He and Yvonne hadn’t actually seen each other in quite some time.

They’d worked together before, but she had gone overseas soon after that and hadn’t been back for almost a

year.

During that period, they’d barely kept in touch-occasional updates came through family elders, but direct contact between them was rare.

Both of their schedules had been packed.

Now, seeing Yvonne’s off-kilter mood, Lucas couldn’t quite find an outlet for his thoughts. He didn’t know what she was planning or what she might do next.

For some reason, though, an uneasy feeling crept up on him.

He wanted to find Aurora and clear the air, but before he could, he realized everyone really believed he was just one of the crew.

People kept handing him equipment and barking small tasks his way.

Scanning the set, he noticed cameras everywhere and decided it was safer not to draw attention.

With so many eyes watching, stirring up trouble now would only backfire, especially if footage made it online. It would reflect badly on both him and the company.

So, he bit back the impulse, deciding to talk to the director later instead.

Besides, Aurora was already surrounded by cameras as filming began, and there was no way to approach her without making a scene.

After thinking it through, he decided to take a more indirect route, perhaps speaking with the director first would be simpler.

But before he could act on that plan, he noticed Yvonne had begun openly targeting Aurora during the shoot.

The most obvious moment came when Yvonne jabbed a finger at one of Aurora’s design drafts, her nail tapping sharply against the page.

“Miss Walton, what exactly is this supposed to be?”

Aurora frowned slightly, not quite understanding her tone.

“Professor Song, I’m not quite sure what you mean.”

Since they were filming, Aurora addressed Yvonne as “Professor” to enhance the show’s appeal.

The entire segment was live, and every word or gesture between them was being broadcast to the audience.

“I already told you that this design concept doesn’t work. Your approach doesn’t suit the old building at all.”

Aurora tilted her head slightly, suddenly intrigued. “Professor Song, I’m not sure I understand. What exactly doesn’t fit?

“I believe my concept for the renovation of this historic building is perfectly sound.”

Her tone remained calm yet confident as she responded to Yvonne’s criticism.

This was her professional field-there was no way she’d let anyone trample on her expertise.

To question her design philosophy was to insult her skill. And as the head of her own studio, Aurora knew better than anyone how essential a strong concept was to any project.

It was like laying the foundation for a house.

If the base was unstable, the entire structure would collapse.

But Yvonne wasn’t interested in explanations.

In her mind, everything Aurora said was just an excuse.
