“For example, your uncle has always believed Yvonne was the woman most suited for you. If we make our marriage public now, won’t it look like I’m relying on your status to prove myself?” 

“But you’re my wife,” Lucas said softly. “There’s nothing wrong with leaning on me. We’re a couple. We’re supposed to rely on each other.” 

The way he called her “my wife,” his voice low and tender, struck straight through Aurora’s heart. 

But she stood firm, refusing to be swayed. “I’ve already made up my mind, and I won’t change it easily. I want to stand beside you with my own strength.” 

Seeing her so resolute, Lucas knew there was no point in arguing further. 

“Alright then,” he said with a sigh. “Since you’ve decided, I won’t push it.” 

He was beginning to realize that reasoning with Aurora wasn’t easy. She had her own mind, her own principles, and once she set her heart on something, nothing could move her. 

She was stubborn to the core. 

Lucas let out another sigh. “Then I’ll stay here tonight. If Yvonne gives you any trouble tomorrow, tell me. I’ll make sure her family hears about it.” 

“No need,” Aurora replied firmly. 

“Why not?” 

Lucas frowned, puzzled by the way she thought. 

Aurora looked at him calmly. “If I run to you for everything, then I’d have no opinion of my own. Wouldn’t that mean I’m depending on you again? And if Yvonne ever found out, wouldn’t that make me look like I lost to her?” 

Lucas raised an eyebrow, confused. Was this really how women thought? 

He couldn’t understand it. After all, he was her husband. What was wrong with her relying on him? 

They’d been married long enough, and Aurora had her own resources, so why was she so determined not to use them? 

Baffled, Lucas finally voiced his confusion directly. 

But Aurora’s tone remained firm. “Don’t worry, can handle Yvonne. If you tell her family, they’ll probably send her back overseas. 

“To be honest, I think she’s quite capable professionally. Working with her might actually

teach me a few things–it’s a different kind of learning experience.” 

Lucas stared at her, completely thrown off. He couldn’t understand how she could even think of learning from her rival. 

“If you need a teacher, I can easily bring in some of the best architects from abroad to guide you.” 

“I can’t rely on you for everything,” Aurora replied, her gaze calm but resolute, 

She had always believed that women needed their own careers and independence–that they couldn’t live forever with their hands outstretched. That was why she resisted leaning on him 

too much. 

“Alright, just get some rest for now. We’ll talk about this later.” Aurora turned and walked toward the bathroom to wash up. 

Lucas let out a helpless sigh. He had come in such a hurry that he hadn’t brought anything 

with him. 

Deciding not to disturb her further, he planned to head over to the villa in Bustin City for the night.
