Aurora wore a white dress, her brows and features carrying a striking resemblance to Grace–seven or eight parts alike.
When Grace first walked in and saw her, she felt a moment of disorientation.
It was as if she were looking at a younger version of herself yet blended flawlessly with the best of that man’s traits.
That was why Aurora’s beauty was so flawless.
Every time she saw Aurora’s face, she couldn’t help but think of him.
Though each memory stirred hatred, sometimes she reminded herself that none of it was the child’s fault.
Back then, Aurora hadn’t even been born. Or rather, being born hadn’t been her choice. Was it really right to take her resentment out on her?
There had been times she regretted it. But Aurora’s recent actions had left her stunned all over again.
This child truly bore that man’s blood–her way of handling things carried his exact style.
Since that was the case, Grace could no longer hold back.
Her eyes grew sharp as the thought settled.
She strode quickly to the table and sat down across from Aurora.
Aurora, seeing her mother’s commanding presence, didn’t know what to say.
She had expected that after so long apart, she might at least see a trace of longing on Grace’s face.
But from the moment she walked in, Grace’s expression had been cold, as if even this meeting was some kind of indulgence.
The thought made Aurora want to laugh. Grace was the one who had asked her to come, so what was the point of putting on this act now?
Aurora wasn’t weak, and she wouldn’t let Grace belittle or trample her.
“You asked me here today–what is it you want?” Aurora decided to break the awkward silence, respecting her as an elder by speaking first.
“Heh.” Grace let out a cold laugh. “Sometimes I wonder why I even gave birth to a daughter like you. You don’t even call me ‘mother‘ anymore. Did I bring you into this world just to disgust myself?”
Aurora’s fingers tightened around her cup.
She truly couldn’t understand why every meeting with Grace had to turn into open hostility.
Grace was acting like she’d woken up on the wrong side of the bed.

Couldn’t mother and daughter sit down and talk properly?
Ever since Aurora started her studio, the two of them had never had a real conversation. Every meeting either turned into an argument or was headed toward one.
Even Aurora herself found it puzzling.
She could swear she didn’t hate Grace that much.
But she was still a daughter, and she couldn’t accept this sudden hostility.
Especially when it was so senseless–she hadn’t done anything wrong.
And today’s meeting had been Grace’s idea in the first place.
“I didn’t come here to fight with you.” Aurora shifted the subject. “It’s rare for us to see each other. Can’t we just sit down and talk calmly?”
She was exhausted. The day had been spent running the studio, and now the afternoon was taken up bickering with her mother.
A life like this felt meaningless to her.
But Grace showed no regard for Aurora’s feelings. “You snatched Daniel’s project away. Did you think I wouldn’t look at you with cold eyes for that?”
“What do you mean?” Aurora looked at her, baffled. “Are you saying… I stole Daniel’s project?”
