Albert didn’t believe a word the chief said.
Julian had just called him not long ago.
It was clear that he wanted to get out of prison.
Back then, he’d still been completely normal.
It hadn’t even been that long. How could he have lost his mind so suddenly?
Albert still couldn’t accept it.
But the chief tried to reason with him. “Mr. Hayes, this is the truth.
“We’re just as troubled to see things turn out this way, but the facts are right in front of us. I hope you can come to terms with it.”
Grace, on the other hand, couldn’t stay quiet. “You won’t let us in, yet you locked my daughter up with him?”
Her voice sharpened. “How could you do that? What if Julian hurts her?”
Her panic was obvious.
She was truly frightened.
All this time, she’d assumed Tessa was simply recovering her voice in the hospital.
She never imagined her daughter was going through something like this.
If she’d known earlier, she would’ve taken her home right away.
That way, she could’ve spared her at least some of this suffering.
But the chief offered her a reassuring look. “Madam Williamson, there’s no need to worry.
“We’ve already confirmed that Julian may act out toward others, but when it comes to Tessa, he’s completely docile.
“Maybe it’s because he still remembers she was once his fiancée.”
Grace took several deep breaths before she managed to calm herself down.
That actually made some sense.
As long as he hadn’t hurt her daughter, that was all hat mattered.
Her daughter had already suffered enough because of Julian–she couldn’t take any more pain.
“Then why did you call us here?”
Grace just wanted to get to the point.

She had no patience left for meaningless chatter.
Albert’s gaze, however, remained fixed on Julian, whose face was hidden behind his hair.
He still couldn’t believe it.
Not long ago, Julian had looked sharp, composed, even handsome.
How could things have changed so fast…
Albert clenched his fists.
He glanced at Tessa sitting beside Julian.
Though she looked a little disheveled, compared to Julian, she was doing far better.
At least her mental state was still intact.
After a long silence, Albert finally spoke. “Why don’t you just let us in? Watching like this through the glass feels too distant.”
Grace froze.
This old man had acted like he didn’t care when he arrived.
But now? Seeing his son like that, clearly, he still cared.
Just as the chief was about to decline, Grace sneered and said, “What, now you know fear and worry? Let me ask you–what about my daughter?”
Albert frowned, gritting his teeth at her attitude.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
He pointed inside. “Before you bring up your daughter, why don’t you take a look at my son? How do you have the nerve to talk to me about your daughter?”
Tessa raised an eyebrow from inside the room but didn’t say anything.
After all, the evidence was solid.
Julian’s conviction was practically guaranteed.
So, she wasn’t worried at all.
All she wanted was for her mom to get her out of hele fast.
