Kelvin tapped the desktop lightly with his long fingers. A strong sense of probing showed in his eyes. “So you really have nothing to say?”
Edwina raised her eyes and met his gaze. Her expression remained calm and unreadable. “Say what? Your company’s computers triggered an alarm. That’s your problem.”
Kelvin stood up and walked toward her. His tone lifted slightly. “Oh? So it has nothing to do with you.”
Because he was so close, Edwina could clearly feel his warm breath. It carried a faint mix of tobacco and fresh grass. Unexpectedly, it wasn’t unpleasant, nor was it annoying.
Edwina thought, ‘His long, curved lashes look even more refined than a woman’s. His nose is high and straight. His thin lips part slightly.
‘It has to be admitted that Kelvin’s looks and physique are exceptional. Wait. What is going on in my head?‘
Edwina immediately stepped back two paces and put distance between them. ‘No, no, no. He is supposed to become my brother–in–law one day!
Kelvin lowered his voice. “Edwina. 580706. Does that string of numbers sound familiar?”
“Never heard of it. Not familiar,” Edwina replied calmly. She thought, ‘As long as I don’t admit it, what can Kelvin do?‘
Edwina’s overly composed expression, full of quiet defiance, amused Kelvin. He shook his head helplessly and said, “Alright. Got it. Then remember to accept WhatsApp request.”
“I don’t use WhatsApp,” Edwina replied without missing a beat.
Kelvin laughed silently to himself. “That lie really comes out effortlessly.
“Alright then. Take this,” Kelvin said gently.
He picked up a blank check from the desk and placed it in her hand. “Thank you for the satellite project. Fill in whatever amount you want.”
Since he offered it, Edwina didn’t refuse. She took it and wrote down 1.5 million dollars. The medicinal herbs for blood ruby were expensive, and money was needed.
Kelvin signed smoothly and called the bank to make sure she could withdraw it at any time.
“If there is nothing else, I am leaving.” Edwina turned and walked out of the office.
For a brief moment, Kelvin felt dazed. It was as if Edwina were the true boss of the company.
Peter walked in. “Mr. Gibson, did you catch the person behind it? The internal system shut down earlier, and an online store listed the wrong price for a material. We lost over one million dollars.”
“Yeah. Let finance record it,” Kelvin replied calmly.
Peter froze. ‘Just record it? Something feels wrong. Why does it seem like Mr. Gibson was smiling? That’s a loss, not a profit.
Edwina returned to the research department. All four of them were waiting anxiously at the door.
Adrian spoke nervously. “Ms. Lennox, are you okay? Mr. Gibson didn’t realize it was us, right?”
Edwina thought for a moment, then answered honestly, “He probably figured it out.”

Adrian panicked. “That’s bad. Ms. Lennox, pack up and run. Breaking into the internal network is a cybercrime. That can land someone in prison.”
Edwina calmly took out the check from her pocket. “Kelvin gave his. He didn’t say anything else, so it should be fine.”
The four of them were floored all over again.
Adrian exclaimed, “What the hell kind of world is this? Attacking the company network and still getting a huge reward?”
Brian added, “Ms. Lennox, are you and Mr. Gibson…”
The rest of the team looked at her, eyes wide with anticipation.
“Are you two related or something?” Brian continued.
Calvin slapped Brian on the head. “Enough. Stop asking nonsense.”
‘Seriously, he’s totally missing the point, Calvin thought, rolling his eyes.
Adrian invited Edwina. “Ms. Lennox, to celebrate the satellite running successfully, we’re going out to have some fun tonight. You’re the biggest contributor to the team. You have to come.”
“I am not going. Have fun.” Edwina refused without hesitation. Any extra time would be used to catching up on sleep at home.
Then the four of them left work early. The research department was left with only her, staying late.
Suddenly, a breathless voice sounded outside the door.
Edwina turned her head and saw Pauline. Her face was full of panic, sweat covering her forehead. “Edwina, do you have time right now? Something happened to Madeline.”
“What happened?” Edwina asked.
Pauline’s eyes filled with tears. “Your designs sold insanely well. Maberly Fashion’s factory alone can’t keep up with the orders.
“So we contacted Design Harmony’s manufacturers to borrow their factory. Only us and them have wireless stitching technology.”
“And then?” Edwina pressed.
Pauline continued, “We talked once. But Design Harmony is huge and powerful. They didn’t take us seriously and weren’t interested in the business.
“But just now, Madeline called me and said the manufacturer’s boss wanted her to meet at Dark Club. She went alone, and now her phone can’t be reached.”
Pauline broke down crying. “I am scared. I am really scared something happened to her.”
“Design Harmony?” Edwina frowned slightly. “The world really is small.
She comforted Pauline. “Don’t panic. Do you know the address of the club? We will drive there.”
Madeline was sincere and kind. Although they had known each other for a short time, Madeline defended her openly during the design competition.
More importantly, the person who called her out was a subordinate of Design Harmony. As the hidden president of DH, Edwina could not ignore this.

Pauline wiped her tears away. She didn’t know why, but having Edwina beside her made her feel much calmer, even though the other girl was more than ten years younger.
Soon, the car stopped in front of Dark Club. The music inside was deafening And colorful lights flashed wildly, almost blinding
Dark Club was the largest underground club in Grindel City. It was massive, with crowds everywhere.
Seeing this, Pauline felt even more hopeless. “How are we supposed to find her?”
Edwina took Madeline’s phone number and stepped aside. She lowered her voice and immediately called Kart from Ash Wings.
Kurt mumbled, “My dear Ms. Lennox. You finally remembered Kurt. Kurt missed you so much!
A soft, overly sweet male voice came from the other end. Goosebumps rose on Edwina’s arms. If she had a computer right now, she would never have called him.
Kurt continued sweetly, ‘Dear Ms. Lennox, have you talked to Oliver lately? He never replies to my messages?
Edwina went straight to the point. “Enough. Track this number and give me the exact location”
Kurt kept going. “Ms. Lennox, did Oliver get even more handsome lately? Please don’t give him too much work Staying up late is bad for his health.”
Edwina said coldly, “Kurt. Shut up. One minute. Or you will never see Oliver again in your life.”
“Received,” Kurt replied immediately.
Although Kurt was strange, his efficiency was top tier. He quicklysent over Madeline’s location. [Third floor. Private room sixty seven.]
The next moment, Edwina hung up and rushed there with Pauline.
Sitting in a booth beside the dance floor, Donald bit his finger and muttered to himself, “That looked like Ms. Lennox just
now.
“What?” a cool, crisp male voice replied.
Because the satellite had run successfully, Kelvin had agreed to grant them one request.
Now, Kelvin deeply regretted it. They actually dragged him to this awful place. The noise made it hard to even keep his eyes
open.
Adrian repeated Donald’s words, raising his voice over the music “Mr. Gibson, Donald said he saw Ms. Lennox.
“Probably nothing. He reacts slowly. He must be talking about seeing her this morning.”
