Desmond was all gentle and patient as he helped Abby along. Honey, be careful. Want me to go in with you?he asked.

Outside the restroom, Abby snuggled up to Desmond, her head on his shoulder as she teased him playfully. No need, it’s the ladiesroom. Not really your place.”

So what?Desmond grinned, cocky as ever. If you want, I’ll have the whole place cleared out in a second. These people aren’t even worth a single strand of my baby boy’s hair.”

So I’m not important?Abby pouted, sounding a little jealous.

Desmond kissed her forehead. Of course you are. If you give me a son, forget about just a bracelet. My mom would buy you a few houses without hesitation.”

Thanks, honey,Abby said. Then she swayed into the restroom like a proud peacock.

People around her shot her looks of disdain, but Abby didn’t notice a thing. She even made a show of gagging so Desmond could hear her from outside.

Abby splashed some water on her face, putting on her best weak and helplessact.

Staring at herself in the mirror, she loved every second of being the woman who’d rise to power through her child.

No matter what, she was determined to get pregnant with Desmond’s baby. And it had to be a boy.

When Abby came out of the restroom, Desmond hurried over to her. He had never been this attentive or patient with her before.

Abby felt like she was walking on air. It felt like she was the only one who mattered in the whole world. Desmond, you’re so good to me,she said.

Certainly,Desmond replied. Just as Abby was about to act all sweet, she spotted a woman in the next private room through the spotless glass. And she instantly recognized that face.

Edwina? What is she doing here?Abby thought. Guess sucking up to the Hoffmans paid off. She can actually eat somewhere this fancy now. And who’s that old guy sitting with her?‘

Realizing she had found some real gossip, Abby quickly tugged Desmond’s sleeve. Honey, look. Isn’t that Edwina?”

Desmond followed Abby’s finger, and sure enough, there was Edwina, chatting it up with a guy who had to be pushing sixty.

Abby said, feigning shock, Wow, I never thought she’d sink so low. She’s still from my family.

She’s really disgracing our parents. All for money and status, she’s willing to become some sugar daddy’s plaything.”

Desmond thought, That slut. She acts all pure and untouchable with me, but turns around and throws herself at some wrinkly old man? Does she think I’m worse than that old fossil?‘

The more Desmond thought about it, the more pissed off he got. One day, I’m definitely going to get a taste of Edwina, he thought.

But for now, he had to keep those thoughts far away from Abby, who was pregnant. Once she popped out the kid, he could go back to doing whatever he wanted.

He thought, Just ten months to endure. Once the child is born, everything will be fine.

Abby had finally gotten some dirt on Edwina, and there was no way she was letting this chance slip by. She was dying to go in there and tear into her.

Abby said, acting all righteous, Honey, even though she left the Lennox family, she’s still my sister.

We can’t just let her embarrass our family like this. We’re all family, and it’ll make the Cole family look bad

too.”

Desmond nodded, grabbed Abby’s hand, and the two of them strutted into the next private room like they owned the place.

Tristian was happily digging into his food when the interruption ticked him off. Without even looking up, he said, Go on, we don’t need any waitstaff here.”

Old man, you’re the waiter here,Abby snapped, her voice full of mockery. Edwina, do you even know what decency is?

That guy’s old enough to be your grandpa. And you actually have the guts to be his sugar baby and still show your face around here?”

Edwina looked up impatiently, coming facetoface with Abby’s arrogant and belligerent demeanor.

Edwina thought, She really dares to throw every bit of blame on me and say whatever reckless thing comes to her mind.”‘

Tristian put down his barbecue ribs and turned around. Wait a minute, young lady, what are you even talking about?”

I’m saying you’ve got zero shame, old man. At your age, still keeping a sugar baby? Aren’t you worried she’ll wait for you to die and clean out your money?Abby said.

Tristian was fuming, getting hit by this kind of dirty rumor for no reason. WhWhere did you see me keeping a sugar baby?Just the thought of calling Edwina anyone’s sugar baby was way out of line.

Even if Tristian were thirty years younger, back when he was the hottest doctor in town, he wouldn’t have dared to even dream of getting with a woman like Edwina.

Even now, Tristian still couldn’t imagine what kind of guy could ever really keep Edwina in line,

Desmond shot Edwina a cold, mocking look. Edwina, if I had known you were this desperate, you could’ve

Edwina let out a cold, dismissive laugh. Looks like I should’ve hit you harder last time. So, you brought Abby along to get your asses kicked too?”

Abby stuck out her chin, totally fearless. She whipped out her phone and started snapping pics nonstop. Try me. I’ll blast these all over the internet.”

As soon as Abby started taking photos, Edwina’s brows furrowed and her gaze instantly turned icy and lethal.

Edwina wasn’t worried about rumors, but she was seriously concerned about Tristian’s photo getting leaked.

Desmond and Abby, being young, might not know who he was, but the internet sure would. Thirty years ago, Tristian was a medical legend who everyone thought was dead.

If a photo of him alive got out, his peaceful life would be history. There was no way Tristian could go through all that again.

Seeing Edwina’s reaction, Abby grew even more triumphant. Edwina, still not going to admit it? I’m posting these everywhere and letting the whole world see your true colors.”

Edwina moved lightning fast, snatching the phone right out of Abby’s hand and deleting the photos.

She slapped the phone back into Desmond’s chest. This time, I deleted the photos. Next time, I might just delete your head from your neck.”

Edwina’s wild threat sounded almost crazy, but coming from her, it sent a chill down everyone’s spine.

Abby froze for a second, then totally freaked out. Did you seriously just grab my phone?”

With her photos wiped, Abby felt humiliated. She charged at Edwina, looking like she was about to swing, but Edwina stood there, cool as ice, smirking.

Edwina caught Abby’s hand, about to give it a nasty twist, but Desmond, worried about the baby, jumped in to stop her.

Edwina scoffed. One after another, they’re just begging to get wrecked, she thought, rolling her eyes.

Edwina grabbed Desmond’s arm, letting go of Abby. Abby spotted the glassware on the table, dashed over, and slammed it onto the ground.

Take my stuff? I’ll smash yours too,Abby shouted, her voice blazing with anger.

No!Tristian yelled, but it was already too late. The glassware and the blood ruby were smashed into bits.

The air in the private room went dead silent. Tristian’s lips trembled, but he couldn’t make a sound.

The blood ruby and lattice weed were both super rare. And after all the time he had spent taking care of it, it

was smashed to bits in a heartbeat.

Edwina kicked Desmond to the floor, her eyes going icecold and deadly as she stared at the busted blood
