Glenn laughed, totally unconcerned. You two aren’t even married yet. You haven’t made it official, so the law. doesn’t recognize you as a couple. I can still pursue her.

Kelvin, I could even puruse you if I felt like it!”

Kelvin suddenly yanked Glenn by the collar, a subtle, nonchalant smirk tugging at his lips.

He said, Sure, why don’t you give it a shot? Let’s see if you make it out of Grindel City alive, or ever get your hands on the Duncan family fortune.”

Glenn’s eyes instantly softened as he patted Kelvin’s hand. Kelvin, let go! I’m no match for you.

Come on, I was just kidding. Don’t take it so seriously. I’m not a creep. I won’t puruse you.

I’m heading out now.”

Glenn turned to leave, but the next second, his eyes suddenly flashed with cold ruthlessness.

Kelvin didn’t buy a word of it, watching him walk away with a cold, indifferent stare.

Edwina slept soundly through the night. When she woke up at dawn, she unexpectedly found Kelvin sitting on a chair right outside her door.

The morning sunlight spilled across his face, tracing the sharp lines of his features in gold.

His eyes were closed, his bone structure almost unreal in its perfection, and his breathing was slow and even, like he was still lost in sleep.

Edwina paused for a moment in front of him, then turned and walked away without a word.

Just then, Kelvin opened his eyes.

Watching her leave without hesitation, he let out a wry smile and shook his head.

What was I even hoping for?he thought to himself.

He’d heard Edwina open the door and had purposely faked being asleep, expecting her to reach out and touch his face, sneak a kiss, or at the very least, toss a blanket over him.

But she just left.

Kelvin shook himself out of it and got to his feet.

Man, I must’ve just woken up and my brain’s still halfasleep. Why the hell am I letting all this nonsense run through my head?he thought to himself.

Kelvin caught up with Edwina, and together they headed to the clean room. Randolph was already awake, getting his final checkup.

If everything checked out, he could head back to a regular room and finally get some proper rest.

Edwina, thank you,Randolph said.

Edwina said, No need to thank me. You pay me, I solve your problems. That’s just how it works.

But this isn’t over yet.”

Kelvin paused. What do you mean?”

It should be over soon,” Edwina added.

Edwina gathered all the staff and Baxter from the estate.

She said, Mr. Duncan’s condition has just stabilized, so there are a few things you all need to keep in mind.

First, there can’t be any flowers in his room. They could cause a respiratory infection.

Second, absolutely no seafood in his meals. Even a little could seriously mess up his stomach and intestines.

Third, you must regularly wipe his arms with saline solution.

Got it?”

Yes, we got it,everyone chimed in together.

Kelvin shot Edwina a curious look, already starting to get a vague idea of what she was planning.

Just as Edwina expected, things took a shady turn that night.

In Randolph’s room, there was a vase of fake flowers, but someone had gone out of their way to cover them with real flower pollen.

The beef soup for dinner was secretly mixed with seafood powder. Instead of following Edwina’s orders to wipe Randolph’s arms with saline, the staff just used regular purified water.

Someone in this place was clearly trying to take Randolph out.

Edwina shot Glenn a look, but he just smiled back, all warm and friendly. He didn’t seem the least bit concerned about Randolph.

He said, Edwina, you’re not seriously suspecting me, are you?

Come on, I’d never do something like that. He’s my uncle, you know?”

It was pretty clear from the way Glenn could still smile at a time like this that he and Randolph weren’t exactly on good terms.

Kelvin shot a deadly glare. Go check the cameras now!”

The security footage showed everything. Three people worked together, each covering for the others. The

reason they thought no one would ever suspect them was that one of them was Baxter.

With Baxter in charge of all the staff, pulling off something like this was effortless.

Baxter and the other two staff members were shoved down to their knees, forced to kneel on the floor.

This time, even Glenn’s expression finally turned serious.

Baxter, who’d always been so submissive before, suddenly broke into a laugh. You guys set me up, didn’t you? Edwina, this was your plan all along, wasn’t it?

Why am I the one under suspicion?”

Edwina towered over him, her gaze icy and commanding.

She said, The moment I realized you were the one who posted that reward online looking for a doctor to save Randolph, I started suspecting you.

600 million is a hell of a temptation. Anyone would be tempted by that kind of cash. You know there’d be plenty of fake doctors mixed in with the real ones.

But from the second I stepped into this place, all I did was sign my name. Nobody even bothered to check if I was legit.”

She stared Baxter down. Even though you didn’t trust me as, you still let me treat Randolph after Conrad was done. Why?

You wanted him dead. With all these doctors coming in and out, how could he ever recover?

You were just trying to run him into the ground, hoping he’d die from all the chaos. If something went wrong, no one would ever blame you.”

Baxter’s face turned deathly pale, teeth clenched in fury. I never thought I’d get outsmarted by some little brat like you!”

Randolph slowly sat up in bed.

He was still weak. As he looked at Baxter, his face was full of confusion. Why? You’ve been with the Duncan family for more than ten years, stuck by my side all this time. What made you turn on me?”

Baxter sneered. Randolph, do you really think I stuck around for over a decade just for kicks? I joined the Duncan family to get ahead in life.

What did I get instead? Wasting away in this backwater, stuck guarding your mansion day in and day out.

You never fight for anything, never go after what you want. You’re pathetic. Because of you, the rest of us can’t even hold our heads up. We’re all dragged down by your uselessness!”

Kelvin’s gaze was icy. So you think killing him is gonna fix everything? Baxter, come on, who’s pulling your strings, and what’s in it for you?”

Kelvin felt that there was no way IBaxter would gamble everything just for revenge. He must’ve been promised something big.

I’ll talk, but you have to promise I get out of this alive,” Baxter said.

Alright, you have my word,” Kelvin replied.

It was….Before Baxter could get the words out, a throwing knife whipped through the air and slammed into his heart.

His body jerked a few times on the floor, then went limp.

The other two staff members screamed in terror, scrambling to their feet and bolting for the door, chanting over and over, I don’t know anything!”

Seriously, they had no idea. They were just Baxter’s puppets.

Edwina fixed her gaze on the direction the knife had come from, but the person had already vanished without a trace.

She hadn’t picked up on a single thing when they snuck up. Whoever it was had clearly mastered the art of breath control and possessed real energy, a true expert at staying hidden.

They could sync their breathing with the natural sounds around them, erasing their presence from the air, making themselves completely undetectable.

Whoever was trying to take Randolph out wasn’t just some random nobody.

Luminara Satellite was a project to reign supreme in space.

The real enemy might have been someone sent by a foreign power to make sure the Luminara Satellite would never make it into orbit.

Edwina couldn’t help but shoot a look at Kelvin.

But what about Kelvin?she thought to herself.

Kelvin turned and locked eyes with her, catching a hint of concern in her gaze, but she shut it down almost instantly.
