Glenn said with a big grin, “I saw the news yesterday. The media didn’t spell it out, but I recognized you, Miss Lennox. You and Mr. Gibson really look great together.Â
“Since you won’t take the gift, just make sure to invite me to your wedding. I’ll bring a generous wedding present.”Â
“Thank you, Randolph,” Kelvin replied, his eyes lighting up with happiness, clearly pleased.Â
Glenn looked annoyed. “Uncle, stop trying to play Cupid. Edwin hasn’t agreed to anything yet!”Â
Randolph chuckled, “Please, it’s only a matter of time.”Â
Glenn was pretty sure Randolph had brought him here today just to mess with him.Â
Randolph said, “We’ve tracked down the mastermind behind the assassination attempt. It was someone from Pezelands, trying to stop the Luminara satellite from launching.Â
“The Foreign Ministry has already stepped in to handle it, and the launch went off without a hitch.Â
“There’s going to be a recognition event in a few days. I heard you played a part in the satellite design.Â
“Miss Lennox, so why don’t you go with Mr. Gibnson to Mierands for it?”Â
Edwina turned him down without hesitation. “No, thanks. I’ve got other things to take care of.”Â
Kelvin looked a little disappointed, but he didn’t push. “She’s got work to do for the company. We can go together.”Â
As the CEO of the R&D company, he had to be there for events like this.Â
As Randolph said his goodbyes, Glenn hung back, giving Edwina a bold, teasing grin. “Edwina, before you say yes to Kelvin, you should really consider me.Â
“I’m way more gentle and understanding than that guy who’s cold as a block of ice…”Â
Before he could finish, Edwina swung the office door shut, shutting out his noisy rambling.Â
Glenn had only come along with Randolph because he wanted to catch a glimpse of Edwina.Â
‘Man, the women I fall for are always a riot,‘ Glenn thought to himself.Â
After he left, Glenn swung by a flower shop next door and ordered a huge bouquet of 999 red roses, specifically requesting that they be delivered to Gibson Group for Edwina.Â
“Wow, these are gorgeous! This is insanely romantic. Edwina, is some rich guy after you?” one of the employees called out.Â
Someone picked up the card attached to the flowers and read aloud, “To my dear Edwina, hope you stay happy every single day.”Â
Madeline Gardner and Pauline Hudson came rushing out from the design department to join the commotion.Â
Edwina, expressionless, told the delivery guy, “Just take them back. I don’t want them.”Â
The delivery guy looked helpless. “They’ve already been paid for and these are Sunset Blue Roses. Each one costs 150Â
dollars.Â

“They’re super rare and expensive, and if we keep moving them around, they’ll get ruined. The shop can’t afford that kind ofÂ
loss.”Â
Now the flowers had turned into a real hot potato.Â
Madeline piped up, “These are so pretty, Edwina. If you don’t want them, I’d love to have them. They’d look amazing in a vase and last for days.”Â
“Whatever, you can have them,” Edwina replied.Â
Since returning them wasn’t an option, and someone actually wanted the flowers, Edwina figured there was no sense in letting them go to waste.Â
Edwina turned to the delivery guy and said, “Could you give him a call and let him know that everyone at Gibson Group is super grateful for the roses?”Â
“Well…” The delivery guy looked awkward, but he could only nodÂ
All that effort and money Glenn poured into his grand gesture ended up for nothing.Â
Madeline and Pauline shared the roses with everyone, then picked out the best–looking ones, put them in a vase, and set them right on Edwina’s desk.Â
Since Madeline was the one who brought them over, Edwina didn’t bother to throw them away. She just left them there.Â
When Kelvin got back from his meeting, the first thing that caught his eye was a fresh vase of red roses on Edwina’s desk. They really stood out.Â
Edwina would never keep something like that on her desk, so Kelvin gave Peter a suspicious look. “What’s that?”Â
Peter replied, “Glenn sent them. It’s a huge bouquet, really prettyÂ
He shrugged, “Maybe Edwina just has a thing for roses.”Â
That one sentence really got under Kelvin’s skin.Â
Kelvin thought, ‘Those flowers were from that show–off?Â
‘She actually kept the roses Glenn sent her!‘Â
Kelvin knew Edwina would never fall for a flashy peacock like Glenn, but it still bugged him more than he’d like to admit.Â
He walked up to her office door.Â
Edwina was sorting through some files when she looked up. “Need something?”Â
“These roses…” Kelvin hesitated, then finally managed to say, “They’re nice.”Â
Edwina lifted her eyes, not really sure what he was after, and just replied, “Yeah.”Â
That offhand response hit Kelvin like a thunderclap. He just couldn’t wrap his head around it. He seethed inside, ‘Did she really just call Glenn’s flowers pretty?Â
‘If she can praise his flowers today, what’s next, calling him handsome tomorrow?‘Â
Kelvin didn’t say another word. He grabbed the vase, barely holding back his annoyance. “Well, since you think they’re so nice, I’ll just take them for myself.”Â
Edwina didn’t even look up, her attention fixed on the Design Harmony sales report.Â

Kelvin was even more pissed. As soon as he stepped out of the RD office, he chucked the vase straight into the trash, the delicate roses instantly buried under the broken glass.Â
“Peter!” Kelvin called out.Â
“Yes, boss,” Peter replied.Â
“Get rid of that room next to the R&D office,” Kelvin ordered.Â
“Take it down?” Peter asked, looking a bit lost.Â
“Yeah. Turn it into a rose greenhouse. I want it overflowing with roses,” Kelvin said.Â
Peter froze for a few seconds, then just nodded and went along with it. “What about the secretary in that office?”Â
“Move them somewhere else. Is Gibson Group so tiny we can’t even fit a few secretaries?” Kelvin shot back.Â
“Of course not. I’ll handle it right away!” Peter said.Â
He thought, ‘Is Mr. Gibson even aware that’s my office? He’s tearing down his assistant’s turf just to score points with his girl.Â
Kelvin slammed himself down into his office chair, seething, crushing a rose petal between his fingers like he was imagining it was Glenn’s neck.Â
Kelvin thought, ‘So she likes roses? Fine, I’ll make sure she sees them every single day. Let’s see which she likes better, my entire greenhouse or Glenn’s pathetic bouquet.‘Â
With Peter running the show, the demolition went smoothly. By the next day, every kind of expensive rose on the market had found a new home in the greenhouse.Â
The entire top floor of Gibson Group was perfumed with the subtle fragrance of roses, enchanting everyone who walked by.Â
The whole company was buzzing with gossip.Â
“What’s up with this? Since when did Mr. Gibson get all sentimental? He actually built a greenhouse right next to his office?” someone gossiped.Â
“This came out of nowhere. It all started the day Edwina got that massive bouquet of roses,” another chimed in.Â
“Wait, do you guys think Mr. Gibson is actually jealous?” someone blurted out.Â
“Jealous? Mr. Gibson is way too cold and aloof to ever get jealous. That’s impossible!” someone else scoffed.Â
Edwina glanced up at the sea of roses, and for a moment, her mood really did brighten.Â
She’d swing by the greenhouse every now and then to water the flowers, but honestly, it didn’t change her opinion that Kelvin must’ve been out of his mind.Â
The day before he was set to head to Mierands for the awards ceremony, Kelvin spotted Edwina in the greenhouse.Â
The air was thick with the rich scent of roses, and the freshly watered flowers looked absolutely stunning, their petals glistening with droplets.Â
But to Kelvin, even the most beautiful rose in the greenhouse couldn’t hold a candle to Edwina.Â
“The awards ceremony the day after tomorrow is going to be broadcast live,” Kelvin said.Â
“Okay,” Edwina replied, snipping away the extra stems.Â

“The winners get one chance to call someone outside during the ceremony, Kelvin added.Â
“Okay, Edwina nodded.Â
Kelvin grabbed the scissors right out of her hand, looking her straight in the eye, serious as ever. “I want that call to go to you‘Â
