Chapter 1
The most explosive scandal of the year at Ridgewood University was the sex video of art student Juliet Cohen, which was leaked to the campus group chat.
The video was filmed in the presidential suite of a five–star hotel
Juliet was completely exposed, pinned against the floor–to–ceiling window by a man taller than her, the rhythmic sounds of their bodies unmistakable.
After it ended, the man whispered in her ear, “Such a beauty.”
Those words were like a bombshell, creating a wave of shock in the group chat.
[Is that voice… Spencer Whitmore?]
[Juliet’s got skills, hooking up with the university’s board member! No wonder her bullies suddenly backed off.]
[Always thought Juliet was a little innocent wallflower, but turns out she’s a scheming bitch, just like her homewrecker mother!]
When the news reached Juliet, she was in her dorm, knitting Spencer a scarf.
Her roommate turned the video volume up to the max, sneering as she passed the phone around, intentionally elongating her words:
“Juliet, you sound so experienced. How many times have you ‘rehearsed‘ this?”
The laughter around her made Juliet freeze in place, her face turning white. The half–knit scarf slipped from her hands as she bolted out the door.
She staggered toward Spencer’s office, wanting to ask him what the hell was going on with the
video.
But as she reached the door, she heard mocking voices inside.
“Spencer, you really didn’t leave Juliet any dignity, did you? Made sure her face was crystal clear so
she can’t even deny it.”
Her mind went blank, a chill running through her body.
“Well, she only has herself to blame. She messed with the woman Spencer loves, and now she’s
paying the price.”

“It’s tough for Spencer, not only does he have to spread the rumors about her mother being a
mistress, but he also has to play the hero and deal with those bullies, acting all affectionate in front
of her.”
“By the way, Spencer, when are you going to tell her the truth? If she ever finds out that the man
she’s been in love with for so long is her sister’s fiancé. Bet she’ll faint from the shock–ha!”
Spencer sat lazily on the couch, his hand resting on the ashtray, a vague expression on his face.
A friend nudged him. “Feeling bad? Remember how she schemed to send Charlotte abroad for two
years? Did you make her suffer in that hellhole? Juliet deserves every bit of this!”
Hearing Charlotte’s name, Spencer finally reacted.
He snuffed out his cigarette, his tone calm. “We’ll wait until Charlotte comes back.”
“Then on that day, which happens to be the anniversary Juliet’s been counting down to, I’ll give her
a ‘surprise‘–make her pay everything she owes Charlotte.”
Juliet’s breath caught as she looked through the haze of smoke at Spencer’s cold face. It felt like her
heart was being ripped open, and the pain made her vision go dark.
So it was Spencer who had spread those slanderous rumor about her mother.
He pursued her, protected her, áll just for revenge.
The one he truly loved was her half–sister, Charlotte.
Juliet couldn’t take it anymore. She turned and fled.
But not far into her escape, she was stopped by a few women.
“Well, if it isn’t the campus pornstar!”
“Just came out of the office, couldn’t get another ‘private session“?”
Juliet’s face went pale, and she tried to escape, but was shoved and pushed by them.
At that moment, Spencer’s cold voice came from behind-
“Anyone touches Juliet under my nose, they’re asking for trouble.”
Unbeknownst to her, Spencer had already left his office. His tall figure was striding toward her.

The women scattered as soon as they saw him.
Spencer reached Juliet’s side, brushing her disheveled hair out of her face, gently caressing her cheek as he gazed into her eyes.
“I told you, if anyone bothers you, just say my name.”
The familiar scent of tobacco filled her nose, making her eyes sting.
The Spencer before her was the same man who had protected her countless times in the past. It felt like a fading dream.
Back when her mother had committed suicide, her father had rekindled an old love affair, and she had lived a life worse than that of an orphan.
Then the rumors spread that her mother had been a mistress, claiming that Charlotte was the
rightful daughter of the family.
As the “daughter of a mistress,” she was naturally a target for bullying.
It was Spencer who had saved her, effortlessly using his status as a board member to create a safe
haven for her.
Yesterday, on Spencer’s birthday, the two of them, fueled by alcohol, had slept together. He had shed his usual refined and elegant demeanor, pinning her against the exposed floor–to–ceiling window, watching her shiver from nervousness.
When Spencer took her, Juliet felt like a bird that had finally found its home after drifting for so long.
Little did she know, the return home was part of his long game.
Juliet felt a wave of dizziness.
When she regained her senses, she was already being led by Spencer out of the building, sitting in the passenger seat of his car.
