Chapter 10
The two men standing in front of Charlotte weren’t strangers–they were the kidnappers she had
previously hired!
Charlotte’s eyes widened in disbelief, and she took two steps back, horrified.
Spencer’s voice cut through the tension. “They’ve admitted it. The kidnapping was your idea. You framed Juliet, making everyone believe you were the victim.”
Charlotte shook her head. “I don’t know them! Spencer, they’re lying…”
Spencer cut her off, thrusting his phone in her face.
The screen showed a screenshot of a cross–border transfer, with the recipient listed as Charlotte,
and the amount was one hundred million.
He swiped back.
The next photo showed Charlotte dressed in lavish clothes, surrounded by wealth and indulgence-
nothing like the image she had painted of herself starving abroad.
Charlotte’s face went pale, and she reached out to grab the phone, but it slipped from her grasp.
She had no idea how Spencer had gotten his hands on this evidence.
She didn’t know who was behind the scenes, orchestrating everything and using the surveillance
video as the catalyst to expose her.
Spencer looked at Charlotte with eyes full of disappointment.
He had met Charlotte in college, and it had been almost ten years since then.
In his memory, Charlotte had always been gentle, kind, and considerate–completely different
from the vicious woman standing before him now.
If it weren’t for the solid evidence, he would never have believed that Charlotte was capable of such
madness.
“Spencer, I can explain!” Charlotte trembled as she looked into his sharp eyes. “I didn’t mean to play the victim in front of you. I love you so much, and I was worried that after we were separated, you’d fall for someone else. As for the money, I planned to return it to you, since I’m not lacking for
anything…”

Spencer reached out, his long fingers brushing over Charlotte’s trembling cheek.
Then, he suddenly gripped her chin tightly!
“Tell me, where is Juliet?”
Charlotte gasped in pain, tears welling up in her eyes.
“I… I don’t know…”
“Tell me!” Spencer pressed harder, almost crushing her jaw with his grip.
Juliet’s father, unable to watch any longer, finally spoke. “Spencer, let go of Charlotte! Juliet’s safe -I’ll tell you where she is.”
Charlotte’s mother looked at him in disbelief. “Are you really going to let him go after Juliet?”
But Juliet’s father’s face was grim as he spoke coldly, word by word:
“Charlotte brought this on herself. She deserves everything that’s happening to her!”
“And you if you hadn’t coddled Charlotte so much, would she have turned out like this? Both of you–one masterminds, the other enabling her, you’ve completely destroyed my reputation!”
“From today on, you and Charlotte are to leave this house. The farther you go, the better!”
Charlotte’s mother’s legs buckled, and she collapsed onto the floor.
After the engagement party, those who had bullied Juliet got their just deserts. Some had their hands chopped off, while others who didn’t were bankrupt within three months.
During this time, Spencer tirelessly searched for Juliet, but she remained elusive.
Following the address provided by Juliet’s father, Spencer traveled to her school in Caldenia, only to learn that Juliet had joined “Operation Dawnlight.”
“Operation Dawnlight” was a cross–border medical aid project, and the whereabouts of its members were kept strictly confidential.
Spencer used both persuasion and threats, but he couldn’t extract any information from the school.
In the end, he resigned from his position as a board member at Ridgewood University and spent his

days drowning his sorrows at a bar.
In just three months, the women around him had changed like a revolving door.
These women came from various walks of life, but the one thing they all had in common was that
each bore some resemblance to Juliet.
One day, Spencer was again at the bar, killing time.
His friends, knowing he was looking for a stand–in for Juliet, had gone to great lengths to bring him a group of women who looked similar to her.
“Spencer, these are all carefully chosen beauties for you. Take a look and see if any of them catch your eye.”
Spencer lifted his eyelids and scanned the nervous yet hopeful faces. His gaze finally settled on one
woman.
She had her head down, her long hair falling over her shoulder. The teardrop–shaped mole at the corner of her eye was identical to Juliet’s.
Spencer narrowed his eyes. “Her.”
His friends dismissed the others, and before leaving, one of them patted the woman on the shoulder and whispered in her ear.
“Play the part well. His ex’s name was Juliet. Nail this, and you’ll never want for anything.”
