Chapter 4
Juliet: “Why?”
“Why? Because you don’t know your place. Your mother’s been dead for how many years, and you’re still clinging to the Cohen family’s wealth?”
“All of that should’ve been mine. You, a bastard daughter, don’t deserve the Cohen fortune!”
Juliet could forgive anything, but she could never tolerate the insults to her mother.
She suddenly lunged in front of Charlotte, her voice squeezed through clenched teeth:
“My mother wasn’t a mistress. She had no idea you and your mother even existed when she married our father.”
“You’re the ones who drove her to her death!”
Charlotte didn’t expect Juliet to argue back and raised her hand to slap her.
Just then, the lounge door was suddenly pushed open.
Spencer’s figure appeared in her peripheral vision, and Charlotte quickly grabbed a handful of nuts from the table and shoved them into her mouth.
In the next moment, her body went limp, and she mumbled incoherently, “Juliet, why are you forcing me to eat this? I’m allergic to nuts…”
Spencer rushed in, shoving Juliet aside.
Juliet stumbled backward, crashing into the coffee table with a loud thud.
“Crack!” The cup on the table shattered, and Juliet’s hands were cut by the glass shards, blood flowing freely.
But Spencer didn’t even glance at her. He quickly crouched down and scooped Charlotte into his
arms.
“Charlotte, are you okay?”
Charlotte’s eyes filled with tears as she helplessly grabbed Spencer’s arm. “I just wanted to catch up with Juliet. I don’t know what I did to upset her…”
“Look at me, is there a rash on my
skin?”

Spencer lowered his gaze and, sure enough, saw large red welts quickly forming on Charlotte’s
skin.
“What do we do now? The party’s not over, and I can’t let this ruin the night. Maybe… maybe makeup could cover it!”
Spencer tightly gripped Charlotte’s wrist. “Forget the damn party. We’re going to the hospital.”
As he carried Charlotte out, he shot a cold glance at Juliet.
Juliet, still in pain, struggled to get up. Her blood kept flowing, and in the blink of an eye, her dress
was soaked with it.
But she couldn’t feel the pain, as if her senses had been drained in an instant, falling into a deep,
empty abyss.
She called over a waiter for a first aid kit, her hands trembling as she struggled to bandage the
wounds.
After a long while, she was exhausted, dragging herself to leave.
As she stepped into the hallway, a few figures suddenly leapt out and, without warning, dragged her
into a nearby storage room.
Immediately, a large hand gripped her chin, forcing her to lift her head, and concentrated chili water was poured into her mouth.
Juliet’s eyes widened in fear.
Like Charlotte, she had an allergy to chili peppers.
This much chili water could kill her!
“Mmm… Stop…”
Juliet struggled desperately.
But they didn’t give her a chance to fight back, pouring one cup after another of chili water down
her throat.
She was suffocating, her face turning red, her body uncontrollably convulsing. Her injured hands weakly scratched at the ground, creating chilling sounds.
The men, seeing her in such a pitiful state, didn’t stop. Instead, they mocked her even more cruelly.

“You actually thought you could touch Charlotte? Do you even know your place?”
“Bet you’re used to this, huh? Someone like Spencer, with his high standards, would never want a dirty woman like you, who’s been ridden by countless men.”
“Drink this chili water clean, and consider it an apology to Charlotte, or we’ll make it worse!”
Juliet’s vision blurred, and her consciousness began to fade.
With the last bit of strength she had left, she almost unconsciously whispered his name, “Spen…
cer…”
As soon as the words left her mouth, the men burst out laughing loudly.
“Hah! You’re still hoping Spencer will save you?”
“He told us to give you this chili water. You hurt Charlotte, and he wants you to suffer!”
“Let’s tear her clothes off and take pictures. Let’s send them to Spencer, let him vent some of his
anger!”
In an instant, several men swarmed on her, tearing her dress to shreds.
They took photos of the barely–conscious, disheveled Juliet, snapping away until she could no longer hold on and finally passed out.
