Chapter 9
That day, Spencer Whitmore drove Charlotte to the hospital. Before leaving, he asked a few of his friends to intimidate Juliet, to crush her spirit.
He thought they’d just made her drink some chili water, but he never expected them to be so ruthless, torturing her to the brink of death!
Charlotte was terrified by the sudden turn of events.
Her face turned pale as she rushed to the control panel, frantically pressing buttons, her voice cracking as she screamed, “Turn it off, NOW!”
But in her panic, she accidentally hit the volume button, and the sound grew louder. Juliet’s cries and the bullies‘ taunts mixed together, creating a painful, deafening sound that instantly shocked the entire venue.
The engagement party was forced to stop.
Spencer dismissed all the guests, leaving only Charlotte and the men who had tormented Juliet.
”
Still in shock, Charlotte trembled as Spencer’s cold gaze swept over her. She shivered and tearfully said, “I didn’t mean to frame Juliet. I just heard you’ve always been protective of her, and I was afraid you’d fall for her…”
“As for the chili water, I had nothing to do with it!”
After Charlotte spoke, the others chimed in.
“Yeah, Spencer, everything that happened afterward had nothing to do with Charlotte.”
“We just couldn’t stand to see Charlotte being bullied, and we wanted to help her get back at Juliet.”
“You hated Juliet, too, Spencer! We were helping! ”
As soon as they finished speaking, Spencer picked up a heavy wooden chair nearby and threw it toward them with all his might!
The chair sailed through the air, crashing into the wall with a loud bang.
Then, he stormed up to the man who had been the most violent in tearing Juliet’s clothes off, grabbing him by the neck!
The men froze in terror.

“Spencer… Spencer, what are you doing?”
“For a woman, are you really going this far?” one of them stammered.
“Juliet has been targeting Charlotte for years. After we helped her get revenge, you’re this angry?”
Spencer didn’t hear any of their words. He pinned the man to the wall and began punching him relentlessly, venting his fury with each blow.
The man was left barely conscious.
The others, seeing Spencer lose control like this, fell silent, not daring to speak.
They had thought Spencer only saw Juliet as an object of revenge.
But now, seeing how furious he was, they realized it wasn’t like that at all.
Spencer was lying to himself–he clearly had feelings for Juliet!
Spencer placed his foot on the man’s battered face, then pulled out a knife and threw it on the ground with a loud clink.
“Whichever of you touched Juliet, cut your own hand off. Don’t make me do it myself!”
The men froze in terror.
Charlotte, standing nearby, gasped in fear and fainted on the spot.
When she woke up, the men were gone, and only her parents remained by her side.
She heard them begging desperately.
“Spencer, are you really going to cancel the engagement with Charlotte for Juliet?”
“Juliet isn’t innocent. She orchestrated the kidnapping to frame Charlotte. If you hadn’t been so quick with the money, Charlotte could’ve been killed!”
“Juliet has bullied Charlotte for years. Doesn’t she deserve a little suffering?”
Charlotte immediately scrambled to her feet, stumbling toward Spencer and clutching his sleeve
tightly.
“Spencer, Juliet has schemed against me at every turn, and she’s taken so much of your money. What are you still protecting her for?”

“Spencer, look at me! I’m the one you love!”
Spencer looked down at Charlotte’s tear–streaked face, his eyes cold with no warmth.
Charlotte’s heart raced with fear as she saw the indifference in his eyes.
She had known Spencer for years, but she had never seen him like this.
What had Juliet done to him to make him act this way?
Suddenly, Charlotte grabbed a glass on the table and smashed it on the ground with a loud crash.
The glass shattered, and Charlotte picked up a shard, holding it to her wrist, her voice trembling as
you cancel the engagement for Juliet, I’ll kill myself right here in

blood began to seep from Charlotte’s wrist.
Spencer finally reacted.
He stepped forward, snatching the glass from her hand, then took out a handkerchief from his pocket and carefully wrapped it around her wrist.
His actions, though seemingly tender, did little to soften the coldness in his eyes.
Charlotte’s dimmed eyes flickered with a glimmer of hope.
She knew it–Spencer would be this heartless.
He still loved her!
But the next second, Spencer bent down and whispered in her ear:
“You can’t die yet.
“Not until you’ve repaid Juliet.”
Before Charlotte could react, the door to the room was suddenly slammed open.
Two men were forcibly thrown into the room, landing at Charlotte’s feet with a loud thud.
When Charlotte saw their faces, the color drained from her face, and she turned as pale as a ghost!
