My Ambition 13

Chapter 5

Excruciating pain exploded from my chest.

Watching Luna frantically swallow paper fragments and Sebastian’s face drain of all color, my consciousness began to blur as my body slid down the wall to the floor.

“Call an ambulance! Now!”

Sebastian’s voice lost its usual composure, carrying an almost imperceptible tremor.

He rushed over, shoving aside the still-sobbing Luna, and pressed hard against my bleeding wound.

His fingers turned white from the pressure, his eyes filled with a mixture of shock, fury, and a hint of… panic?

Was it for me, or for that swallowed tender document?

‘Luna, do you have any idea what you’ve done?!”

He snarled without looking back, each word squeezed through gritted teeth.

Luna flinched at his roar, then cried even more pitifully:

e

I just… I just love you too much! I can’t lose you! It’s all her fault-this bitch seduced you…”

‘Shut up!”

Sebastian whipped around, his gaze so ice-cold that Luna fell silent instantly.

If anything happens to her, or if Brightwell Corporation suffers because of this project, Luna Fairmont, your family won’t be able to handle the consequences!”

This was the first time I’d heard Sebastian speak to Luna with such cold, even threatening tone.

una was clearly stunned, forgetting to cry, only staring at him in disbelief.

The ambulance and police arrived quickly. In the chaos, I was lifted onto a stretcher.

‘ain and blood loss blurred my vision, but I clearly heard Sebastian briefing the police, his voice heavy yet unnaturally clear:

…My fiancée, Luna Fairmont, may have become mentally unstable due to some misunderstandings. She attacked my assistant and… lestroyed the original tender documents crucial to our business trip.”

No! That’s not true! Sebastian, how could you…”

una screamed, trying to defend herself, but was restrained by the police.

Before I completely faded into darkness, the last thing I saw was Sebastian’s complex glance toward me, and Luna’s eyes-a mixture

of madness, resentment, and a flicker of terror as she finally realized the magnitude of her actions.

When I awoke again, I was in a hospital room reeking of antiseptic.

The dull ache in my chest reminded me that everything that happened wasn’t a nightmare.

Outside the window, darkness had fallen. Only a dim bedside lamp lit the room.

I tried to move and couldn’t help but gasp.

“Don’t move.”

A low voice came from the corner.

Only then did I notice that Sebastian was still there.

He sat on the sofa by the wall, his suit jacket casually draped aside, tie loosened, dark circles under his eyes. His entire being

radiated deep exhaustion.

“Mr. Brightwell…”

My voice was hoarse.

He stood up, poured a glass of water, and brought it to my lips. His movements were awkward-clearly unaccustomed to caring for

others.

The doctor said the wound isn’t too deep, but you lost a lot of blood. You need rest.”

He paused, adding, “The police have opened a case. The Fairmont family sent people, trying to suppress the matter.”

took a sip of water, moistening my dry, aching throat, and said nothing.
