Chapter 4Â
I was about to head out when I saw Gabriel go pale as a sheet, clutching his stomach hard. Classic stomach flare-up.Â
Well, there went my exit strategy.Â
I helped him to the couch and rushed to the kitchen to whip up some healing porridge.Â
After babysitting Gabriel all night, he finally looked human again.Â
stretched and was heading for the door when I spotted Sera lurking outside like some rejected vampire.Â
Obviously Gabriel not chasing after her last night had bruised her ego, and now she couldn’t bring herself to just walk back in.Â
The second she saw me, her jaw dropped:Â
I’m gone for one night and Gabe’s already desperate enough to have you over for a sleepover?!”Â
Summer, you’re way more scheming than I thought. But don’t get cocky-I’ve got plenty of ways to deal with you!”Â
was so over Sera’s drama. Talking to her was like losing brain cells in real time.Â
started to leave, but then she made this big dramatic decision and charged into the villa.Â
Gabe, after thinking about it all night, I realize I was totally wrong. I know Summer means a lot to you, and I swear I won’t try toÂ
ick her out anymore. Please forgive me?”Â
Seeing Sera’s waterworks, Gabriel’s expression went all soft:Â
I’m glad you finally get it.”Â
In that case, Summer, just move back into the villa. I really need you around these next few days.”Â
knew he meant for his stomach issues, but Sera obviously had other ideas.Â
When Gabriel didn’t deny anything and actually invited me back, she went even paler and shot me this look of pure hatred.Â
But then she flashed me this wicked smile.Â
My stomach dropped. Something told me the calm before the storm was officially over.Â
While I was on edge, the butler seemed thrilled to finally have an ally.Â
Every day he’d sneak into the kitchen to whisper-vent about Sera’s latest antics.Â
One time, right after he finished ranting, we heard Sera’s voice behind us:Â
‘Gabe, look at Summer-you’re paying her all that money and she’s still getting cozy with other men!”Â
By “money” she obviously meant her imaginary sugar baby payments.Â
Gabriel missed the implication but still frowned:Â
“Butler, you’re a man. Keep it professional.”Â
The butler awkwardly shuffled out of the kitchen.Â
Sera looked even more pissed that Gabriel only called out the butler and not me.Â
The next day, I was prepping lunch when Sera burst in and snatched my knife:Â
“Summer, your little victory lap ends today! Time to get kicked out of the Stone family for good!”Â
She grabbed the knife and stabbed some blood packet she had taped to her waist, then immediately started screaming:Â
“Ow, it hurts so bad! Summer, I was just trying to help you chop vegetables-why did you stab me with the knife?!”Â
Gabriel heard the commotion and came flying downstairs, catching Sera as she dramatically collapsed.Â
His face was all twisted up:Â
‘Summer, I know you’ve been dealing with a lot lately, but you can’t just attack people!”Â
[ calmly pointed at the ceiling:Â
‘Mr. Stone, there’s a security camera right up there. Maybe check the footage before you start throwing accusations around?”Â
Sera clearly forgot about the camera-panic flashed across her face.Â
ust as Gabriel was about to pull up the footage, she grabbed his arm, sobbing like she was dying:Â
‘Gabe, it hurts so much! Forget the stupid camera and get me to a hospital!”Â
Gabriel immediately scooped her up and rushed out.Â
I thought for a second, told the butler to save that footage, then followed them to the hospital.Â
Once they got into the exam room, Sera looked around to make sure no one was watching, then grabbed the doctor’s hand andÂ
hoved a credit card at him:Â
Tell him I got stabbed so bad that my kidneys are failing and I need that girl’s kidney transplanted into me, got it?”Â
