Chapter 5Â
The doctor froze, credit card in hand, looking totally bewildered.Â
But Sera thought everything was going according to plan and immediately had him wheel her out of the exam room.Â
Gabriel rushed over the second he saw her getting wheeled out:Â
“Doctor, how’s Sera? Is it serious? Should I call in some world-renowned surgeon right now?”Â
The doctor opened his mouth but had no clue what to say.Â
Sera saw his hesitation and shot him this ‘you’re useless’ glare before putting on her dying swan act:Â
The doctor says the knife punctured my kidney and now I need an immediate transplant. I think Summer’s kidney would work perfectly. She hurt me, so she should pay the price.”Â
She gave me this smug look, totally convinced Gabriel would let her harvest my organs.Â
I was just… speechless.Â
All this drama just so she could come to the hospital and steal my kidney?Â
Did she think this was some fantasy novel where laws don’t exist?Â
Gabriel frowned at her:Â
Even if Summer’s kidney was a match-which it probably isn’t-you can’t just steal someone’s organs without consent. That’s literally llegal. Sera, where the hell did you get this idea?”Â
Sera’s smugness completely crumbled. She sat there gaping like a fish, clearly not expecting Gabriel to go off-script.Â
That’s when the doctor seemed to snap back to reality and let out this huge sigh of relief.Â
He cleared his throat and handed the card back to Gabriel:Â
“Mr. Stone, here’s what actually happened. Miss Sera just tried to bribe me to lie about kidney failure and said she wanted to harvestÂ
his lady’s kidney.”Â
“If you hadn’t just shown you actually understand how laws work, I was about to call the cops. Thank God you’re not completely insane.”Â
“Maybe have a chat with Miss Sera about her dangerous delusions. And tell her to stop treating hospitals like her personal theater with fake blood packets.”Â
The doctor headed back into his office.Â
Right before he closed the door, I heard him mutter:Â
“These people read too many novels and loco thair damn minda Trion to huikaÂ
and have dananlaÂ
ciun ma the DINÂ
WhatÂ
Sera saw Gabriel’s disappointed look and started scrambling:Â
“Gabe, look how much I’m bleeding! How could this be fake?”Â
“Don’t listen to that doctor’s nonsense-he’s probably Summer’s relative or something, helping her out so I can’t get a kidney and die from organ failure. You’d really let me die over a misunderstanding?”Â
Gabriel’s temple was visibly throbbing. He was about to speak when my phone buzzed.Â
It was the butler sending the security footage,Â
I opened the video and handed it to Gabriel.Â
The footage clearly showed Sera grabbing the knife, stabbing her fake blood packet, and collapsing into her dramatic performance.Â
Gabriel held the phone up to Sera’s face:Â
‘So what’s your excuse now?”Â
sera went pale but quickly turned on the waterworks again:Â
‘Gabe, I know I messed up, but I just can’t stand watching you focus all your attention on some replacement when I’M supposed to bÂ
your first love!”Â
I’ve told you a million times,” Gabriel’s voice was razor-sharp, “Summer is my chef, not your replacement!”Â
This was the first time he’d ever been this harsh with her. She actually stopped fake-crying and just sat there frozen, looking completely stunned.Â
Gabriel turned to me, his voice heavy:Â
Summer, I’m sorry. I should’ve gotten the facts before accusing you.”Â
Jgh.Â
This wasn’t even the first time Sera had put me through the drama.Â
From the whole replacement mix-up to the party disaster, and now this frame job.Â
signed up to make 800K cooking food, not to star in some soap opera.Â
I accept your apology, Mr. Stone, but I’m quitting.”Â
Gabriel looked genuinely shocked and immediately tried to backtrack:Â
I can raise your salary even more. I’ll handle the Sera situation-she won’t bother you again, I promise.”Â
‘It’s not about money.” I shook my head. “I’m just a chef. I want to cook in peace, not get dragged into replacement drama every single day.”Â
No matter how much Gabriel tried to convince me, I wasn’t budging.Â
He finally sighed in defeat:Â
“Alright, I respect your decision. I’ll transfer your salary and severance as soon as possible.”Â
Back at the house, I packed up my stuff while the butler helped out, sighing the whole time:Â
“What am I gonna do when you’re gone?”Â
Poor guy had worked for the Stone family since Gabriel’s parents were alive. This place was basically his horne-he couldn’t just leaveÂ
I patted his shoulder.Â
“Don’t worry yet. Just wait until Mr. Stone actually marries Sera. That’s when your real nightmare begins.”Â
He looked like he was about to faint.Â
As I wheeled my suitcase out of the Stone mansion, I glanced back one last time.Â
Gabriel was standing on the second-floor balcony, watching me with this complicated expression.Â
I gave him a little wave and hopped into my taxi.Â
Finally free from Sera’s constant drama! No more sneaking around to cook meals-this felt amazing! Hell yeah!!Â
