As the words left her mouth, Kael’s temple throbbed, and his hand froze mid–motion as he tried to pry Sloane’s arms away. 

His first thought was that this was absurd–impossible. 

As Sloane saw his hesitation, a glimmer of hope reignited in her eyes. 

She tilted her head up to look at him, her voice trembling with sobs. “It’s true! If you don’t believe me, check for yourself! I swear on my life–I’m not lying about a single word!” 

Kael’s jaw tightened. He suddenly grabbed her chin, his grip sharp and cold. “Don’t you dare speak a bad word about her again. You’re not 

worthy.” 

Sloane’s eyes flickered, her face draining of all color as her shoulders shook. 

The pain in her jaw was nothing compared to the ache in her chest–did he really trust her so little? Her heart sank into despair. 

Kael pulled his hand away indifferently, but Sloane’s words had already stirred up a storm in his mind, impossible to ignore. 

He gritted his teeth, picked up the internal phone, and barked, “Find out where Nova went. And confirm if Corin is the owner or shareholder of 

that antique shop.” 

Ten minutes later, Sam called back, his voice hesitant. “Mr. Voss, according to the surveillance footage, Mrs. Voss took a taxi to the antique shop 

after the press conference. And… yes, Corin is indeed the owner of the shop.” 

After he spoke, Sam could feel the air grow icy–cold, thick with tension. 

He panicked–something big was about to blow up between Nova and Kael. 

Kael hung up, his face so dark it looked like it could storm at any moment. Suddenly, he swept his arm across his desk, sending papers flying 

everywhere. 

So that’s why she’d been so cold to him–no matter how hard he tried to please her, she’d brushed him off, even suggesting they split up, something she’d never done before. 

He’d thought she was just angry, that he could wait it out, chase her, dote on her until she forgave him. 

But it turned out she’d already had someone else in her heart–sneaking off to meet Corin behind his back. 

No wonder they’d been together at the hospital last time. What were the odds of that? 

The only explanation was that they’d been seeing each other in secret all along. 

Kael fought to hold back his rage, but his eyes still reddened with anger, disbelief, and a flicker of hurt. 

Sloane watched him silently, a faint smirk tugging at her lips. 

Just then, her phone vibrated in her pocket–a message popped up: [Everything’s set.] 

Sloane’s eyebrows shot up in delight. She replied: [Call the reporters. I want everyone in New York to see Nova’s huge scandal!] 

After hitting send, she looked up at the furious man in front of her and let out a soft chuckle. 

She couldn’t wait to see Nova’s name dragged through the mud, turned into a pariah, and thrown out by Kael.

At the antique shop, a staff member panicked as Kael and his group strode in, their presence intimidating. “What do you think you’re doing? You can’t come in without an appointment!” 

Kael shot him a cold, icy glare. 

The staff member froze, his spine tingling with fear. 

Sam stepped forward with a polite smile, handing over a membership card. “Mr. Voss is here to pick up the jewelry he bid on a few days ago. We’ll be in and out quickly–please don’t disturb the other guests.” 

The staff member verified the card was real and nodded, no longer suspicious. “Alright, you can head up.” 

Sloane hid a smile, her eyes shining with eagerness as she hurried to keep up with Kael. 

The show was about to begin. 

In the elevator, Kael stared down at his watch, his fingers brushing the band. His entire body radiated cold, making the air around him feel like it had dropped to freezing. 

Sam approached cautiously. “Mr. Voss, Mrs. Voss is in the lounge. The staff here confirmed Corin is with her.” 

Kael’s eyes hardened. His fingers tightened around the cold metal of his watchband, almost bending it–proof of his seething anger. 

The atmosphere grew stifling, but Sloane was over the moon. 

Ding! 

The elevator doors slid open on the fifth floor. Kael’s face remained stormy as he strode straight toward the lounge. 

Sloane rushed after him, her grin almost impossible to hide. 

Bang! Bang! Bang! 

Kael banged on the door, his voice like ice. “Nova, open up! I won’t say it again!” 

Sloane leaned in, fanning the flames. “It’s taking so long… A man and a woman alone–could they be…” 

She gasped, feigning shock, while secretly watching Kael’s face. Sure enough, his eyes turned sharp enough to cut. 

Kael ground his teeth, his jaw tight. The thought of the woman he’d loved and doted on for ten years being with another man made his heart feel like it was being fried in a pan–agonizing. 

“Break it down,” he snarled. 

Sam felt like he was sitting on pins and needles, already bracing for the coming storm. He pulled out a metal tool and slipped it into the lock. 

Within seconds, the door clicked open. 

The moment they stepped in, an ambiguous atmosphere hit them–mixed with faint moans and heavy breathing, the air thick with lust. 

Kael’s blood boiled as he glanced at the messy room, overwhelmed by anger and humiliation. He marched toward the bedroom inside. 

Sloane’s heart raced with excitement as she followed, adding fuel to the fire. “What’s going on here? I thought Ms. Hale was just talking to Mr. Thorne… What did they do?”

Kael kicked open the bedroom door with a crash. The two people on the bed jumped in shock, scrambling to cover themselves with the sheets as they screamed. “Ah! Oh my god!” 

Sloane froze, as if she’d been hit over the head. The smile on her face vanished instantly. 

How is this possible? 

When the woman on the bed saw Sloane, her face turned ashen. She wrapped the sheets tightly around herself, stammering, “I–L.. I didn’t-” 

Sloane shot her a venomous glare. 

Kael, meanwhile, looked away in disgust. He turned to Sloane, his voice cold. “Do you know what happens when you lie to me?” With that, he stormed out of the bedroom, his face livid. 

Sloane paled, a shiver running down her spine. She snapped out of it and chased after him, grabbing his arm. “No! That’s not what happened!” 

Kael frowned, annoyed, and stopped. 

Sloane’s voice trembled with panic. “K–Kael… Mr. Voss, Sam checked–Nova did come here! And Corin is here too! This must be a trap they set!” 

Before she could finish, a clear female voice sounded from the doorway. 

“Are you talking about me?” 

Kael and Sloane both jumped, turning toward the door in unison. 

There stood Nova, a faint smile on her lips, walking toward them calmly and unhurriedly. 

She glanced through the slightly open bedroom door at the chaotic scene inside, then looked back at Kael with a feigned look of surprise. 

“I heard the staff say you were here, so I came up to see,” she said. “I thought you were here to pick up your jewelry. Why are you with Sloane? What’s going on?” 

Pretending to be clueless? Lying? I can play that game too. Nova’s eyes sharpened. 

Kael frowned, caught off guard and at a loss for words. 

Sloane’s brow furrowed. She suddenly shouted, cutting Nova off, “That’s not right! Sam confirmed you and Corin were in this lounge! Now it’s like this–are you trying to cover something up?” 

Her words pointed directly at Nova, accusing her. 

Kael snapped back to his senses, his face hardening instantly.
