Just then, a car pulled up in front of her. 

The driver rolled down the window and said politely. “Ms. Hale? Jaxs asked me to drive you home. It’s hard to get a taxi here.” 

Nova wanted to decline, but a car behind them honked impatiently. She reluctantly got in. “Thank you.” 

As the car drove down the road, Nova was about to send jaxs a message to thank him when she looked up and saw a familiar car–Kael’s Bentley! 

Her heart jumped, and she ducked her head quickly. Why is he at the Royal Fencing Club? 

A terrible possibility crossed her mind. Nova’s face turned cold and her fingers tightened into fists. 

How laughable–he still didn’t trust her. 

The two cars passed each other. Nova kept her head down, while in the other car. Karl’s brows were furrowed in obvious irritation. If he’d glanced to his left, he would have seen Nova in the passing car. 

Thankfully, he didn’t. Nova had narrowly avoided a confrontation. 

She’d just begun to relax when the car’s radio crackled to life. 

“Sources report that Nova Hale, wife of Voss Group’s CEO, has been secretly meeting with the CEO of a Seattle based corporation. The pair were even seen entering and exiting a hospital together….. 

“Just days ago, they were spotted discussing work at Jasmine Manor in New York’s eastern suburbs…. 

“Today, they allegedly met at the Royal Fencing Club… 

Every word hit Nova like a hammer. It took her a moment to process that she’d heard. 

The driver, a blunt man who knew nothing about the gossip, joked. “Man, rich people’s lives are crazy, huh?” 

Her face deathly pale, she tremblingly pulled out her phone and opened Twiter–sure enough, she was trending 

The comments were filled with hatred. 

[Nova is so shameless! Mr. Voss dotes on her, and she cheats on him] 

II can’t believe I ever admired her. She’s just a cheap homewrecker:] 

[Karma’s gonna get her–1 hope she gets hit by a car and comes back as a pig“] 

[Good thing she and Mr. Voss dont have kids. Women like her don’t deserve to be mothers!] 

Nova’s face lost all color. When she read the comments about children, something inside her shattered. 

A few cruel words had trampled her dignity and reputation into the dirt 

She wanted to argue, to defend herself–but what was the point? Her words would sound weak and meaningless. 

The priority now was to dear her name. 

Not just for herself, but for Corin too. 

He and his girlfriend, Grace, would be dragged into this. If their relationship was damaged because of her, she’d never forgive herself.

Sloane was the first person who came to mind. Who else would hate her enough to do this? Nova felt a wave of hatred for the woman–a feeling she’d never experienced before 

The rumors were spreading fast. Kael would definitely see them soon. 

She didn’t dare think about what he might do–especially to Corin. 

Nova was so anxious she felt like she was sitting on a hot pan. 

When she finally calmed down, she told the driver, “Take me to Voss Group.” 

The day she’d been dreading–the final confrontation with Kael–had arrived. 

Meanwhile, back at the Royal Fencing Club- 

Kael demanded that the manager show him the morning’s security footage. 

The manager looked panicked. “Mr. Voss, it’s not that I won’t let you see it–the cameras broke two days ago. We’re still fixing them!” 

“Is that so? What a coincidence.” Kael’s lips twisted into a cold smile. 

“It’s the truth! I’d never dare lie to you!” The manager was so scared he could barely speak. 

Just then, Sam finished checking and stepped forward. “Mr. Voss, the security cameras here are indeed broken.” 

“You see?” The manager forced a smile. 

Kael finally looked away and turned to leave. Sam followed closely behind, looking like he had something to say but was holding back. 

Kael was in a foul mood. He shot Sam a glare. “Spit it out. Since when have you become such a coward?” 

Sam hesitated, then held out his phone, his hands shaking. “Mr. Voss… you should see this for yourself.” 

Sure enough, the next second, Kael slammed the phone to the ground. It shattered into pieces. 

Sam’s heart raced–he didn’t dare look at Kael’s face. 

The new trending topic… I’ve already told the PR team to handle it,” Sam stammered. 

But that was the least of their problems. 

Kael’s face was as cold as ice, devoid of any warmth. He let out a bitter laugh. “Do you think I’m an idiot too? Letting those two make a fool of me!” 

He’d cherished her so much, tormented himself with guilt night after night, and even thought about keeping her by his side forever. But it had all been a lie–a trick to deceive him. 

Sam didn’t dare say a word. 

Kael ground his teeth. His deep eyes were filled with hurt, but more than that–a searing hatred for being betrayed by the person he loved most. 

How could she do this to me? How could she betray me? 

“Mr. Voss, you can’t believe everything you read online. You should trust Mrs. Voss,” Sam ventured, his voice trembling. 

Kael’s expression flickered. It was impossible to tell if he’d heard Sam’s words. 

The taxi pulled up outside Voss Group’s headquarters. Nova thanked the driver, picked up her things, and got out.

In the parking lot, she spotted Karl’s Bentley. 

He was already back 

Nova’s heart skipped a beat, but she walked inside firmly. 

fter assistant saw her from a distance and ran over like she’d found a lifeline. “Ms. Hale! Thank goodness you’re here! I delivered documents to the CEOs office earlier, and Mr. Voss was terrifying. I even heard him yelling upstairs!” 

Nova pressed her lips together. Things were worse than she’d feared. 

She patted her assistant’s shoulder. “It’s okay. I’ll go check on him.” 

As Nova pushed open the door of the CEO’s office, Kael was sitting in his leather chair, reviewing a stack of documents. 

His expression was calm, as composed as ever–nothing like the furious man her assistant had described. But the calmer he seemed, the more nervous Nova fel 

She closed the door softly. 

Kael finished reading the document in his hand, then glanced up at her, his voice cold and neutral. “I thought you were going to the mall. But I heard you went to the Royal Fencing Club instead. Why lie to me?” 

Nova froze for a second, her face paling, and she forced a gentle tone. “Would you like some coffee?” 

In the past, whenever they fought, Kael would force himself to calm down. 

He’d take her to a quiet place, and they’d sit together until they could talk rationally–no matter whose fault it was. 

This time, Nova wanted to be the one to stay calm first. 

She walked toward the coffee machine… 

“I asked you a question! What were you doing at the Royal Fencing Club? Why did you lie to me?” Kael’s eyes turned red. 

He pointed at her, his voice sharp with anger. 

He grabbed the stack of documents on his desk and threw them at her. 

Crash. 

The papers scattered across the floor–covered in screenshots of the online rumors and photos of her and Corin. 

Nova’s already pale face turned even whiter. 

The thin papers barely hurt when they hit her, but her heart felt like it was being torn to shreds. 

She suddenly remembered their high school graduation trip–she’d gotten lost, and her phone had died. When Kael found her, he’d been so angry his eyes were red. He’d wanted to scold her, but instead, he’d pulled her into a tight hug, his voice breaking. “It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have let you out of my sight.” 

The man who had once refused to raise his voice at her had just hurt her for the second time. 

Tears stung Nova’s eyes. She fought back the overwhelming sadness and looked up at Kael–her gaze filled with disappointment and pain. 

Kael froze for a second. 

He caught a glint of unshakable resolve in her eyes–this solemn, almost fatalistic acceptance, like someone standing at the edge of a cliff, already letting go of everything they’d ever clung to. 

It sent a cold, jagged fear straight through him. 

That look wasn’t just “making up her mind“-it was “burning the bridge behind her.”
