Chapter 50 Stealing Her Fair and Square!Â
Kael’s eyes snapped open, his brows furrowed.Â
Sam handed him an iPad. Five minutes ago, his company’s official Twitter account posted a clarification. He also announced his girlfriend, Grace Quins. YouÂ
should see it. Mr. Voss.”Â
Kael took the iPad and read through the posts, his furrowed brows gradually relaxing.Â
Corin had denied the rumors about him and Nova–and announced his relationship with Grace. Either news alone would have shocked him, but the fact that Corin even had a girlfriend was surprising.Â
But one thing was clear–with Corin in a relationship and back in Seattle, Kael’s suspicion and hostility toward him faded.Â
At the same time, his guilt toward Nova grew. He’d made her suffer so much.Â
Sam watched Kael’s expression, unable to stay silent. “Mr. Voss, everyone at Voss Group can see how much Mrs. Voss loves you. You’ve been together for nine years–she’d never do anything to betray you. And with her character, she’d never get involved with Corin, not when she knows he has a girlfriend.Â
“You really hurt her this time,” Sam added, sighing softly.Â
Kael’s heart ached. Everyone else can see her love for me–why did I doubt her? His eyes reddened with regret.Â
Sam fell silent, focusing on driving.Â
After a moment, Kael pulled himself together. “How’s the woman at the hospital?”Â
“We just got word. She’s been given medication and should wake up by tomorrow at the latest.”Â
A cold glint flashed in Kael’s eyes. “Have someone guard her. Notify me the second she wakes up.”Â
No one who hurt Nova will get away with it.Â
“I understand.”Â
Corin’s announcement caused a stir online.Â
Nova saw it too.Â
She wasn’t surprised–she’d known about Grace already. But she felt a sense of relief. At least Corin and Grace hadn’t been dragged into her mess.Â
That was all that mattered.Â
She’d driven around the outskirts of New York for hours. The sky was growing dark.Â
Kael had called her countless times, but she hadn’t answered a single one. Let him taste the fear and pain I’ve felt.Â
She hung up his latest call and told the driver to stop at a café she used to frequent.Â
As she ordered her coffee, her eyes fell on a rabbit keychain on a shelf behind the counter–it looked exactly like the one she’d lost.Â
She stared at it, her heart racing. It was hers–her mother had made it specially for her.Â
She’d thought she’d never see it again after asking Corin about it.Â
“Excuse me,” she said to the barista, pointing at the keychain. “Could you tell me where that rabbit keychain came from?”Â
The barista followed her gaze and smiled. “Oh, someone found it here and left it with us. We’ve been keeping it in case the owner came back.”Â

The hartstay widened. She took the keychain down and handed it to Nova. “Glad we could give it back to youÂ
Na took it running her finger over the rabbit’s ear. Up close, she could smell a faint, crisp scent–familiar, but she couldn’t place it.Â
To the person who found it come here often?” she asked.Â
The barista thought for a moment. “Not really. He just happened to be here that day.”Â
Nova hesitated, then smiled. “Could you do me a favor?”Â
Outside the cafe, Corin stood behind a glass window, watching Nova sit in a corner, his eyes deep and controlled.Â
He’d watched her light up when she got the keychain back–and for a moment, he’d been transfixed. This is how she should be–bright, happy, not drowning inÂ
SOITOWÂ
In the time he’d known her, she’d always seemed to be forcing a smile.Â
Corin frowned, then shook off the thought. Who are you to care?Â
Kael’s words echoed in his mind. What right do you have?Â
Kael was right.Â
She was married, and he was just a stranger.Â
Corin smiled bitterly. When he looked back at the window, his eyes were calm again–back to the cold, composed man he usually was.Â
Jaxs returned a moment later.Â
He opened the car door and handed Corin a coffee. “Here’s your coffee, sir.”Â
Corin took it, taking a small sip. The sweet taste made him frown.Â
He was picky about his coffee–he never drank anything this sweet.Â
Jaxs had worked for him for seven years; he’d never made a mistake like this before.Â
Corin shot Jaxs a dissatisfied look. “What kind of coffee is this?”Â
Jazs suffened, sensing his boss‘ anger. “It should be Geisha, sir.”Â
Geisha–he never drank Geisha. It was too sweet for his taste.Â
Corin’s face hardened, and he set the coffee down, a cold laugh escaping his lips. “It seems your work efficiency has dropped lately. You can’t even handle smallÂ
tasks like this,”Â
Jazs‘ heart skipped a beat before he broke out in a cold sweat.Â
Corin’s presence alone was intimidating–one wrong word, and he could lose his job.Â
“Mr. Thorne, the barista said Ms. Hale wanted to thank the person who found her keychain,” Jaxs explained quickly. “She said she’d buy their coffee whenever they come here,”Â
Corin froze, his eyes deepening–their depth unfurling like the uncharted expanse of the night outside, vast and impossible to fathom.Â
Jaxs panicked. He hadn’t thought about the consequences–now he regretted bringing it up. “If you don’t like it, I’ll get you a new one right away!”Â
While speaking, he reached for the coffee, but Corin stopped him.Â

“No need.” Corth spoke in a quiet, even tone, his thumb brushing slowly along the rim of his coffee cup..Â
Jaxs stared at him in disbelief. Did he just… change his mind?Â
Corin held the coffee cup in his hand the warmth seeped into his palms, and the sweet taste in his mouth no longer felt unpleasant.Â
The frustration he been feeling faded, replaced by a strange calm.Â
He couldn’t believe he’d said those words to Jaxs.Â
But he had.Â
Corin frowned, a hint of self mockery in his eyes.Â
axs glanced at him in the rearview mirror and sighed. He felt sorry for his boss–his feelings for Nova were obvious, but they were doomed from the start.Â
ometimes, Jaxs found himself thinking selfish thoughts. What if Kael and Nova got divorced? What if Kael stopped treating Nova well? Then Corin could steal er fair and square.Â
ut there were no “what ifs.”Â
orin had thought about it too–until that night at the hospital, when he’d seen Nova’s unconscious dependence on Kael. All those “what ifs” had vanished.Â
uddenly, a phone ring broke the silence in the car. Corin snapped back to reality.Â
le looked at the caller ID and frowned.Â
