Chapter 8 Leaving in Sorrow, Then He Appeared….
It was Sloane.
Kael’s lips curved into a wicked smile. He squeezed the slim waist in his hands. “Missed me that much, huh?“]
“You’re terrible…” Sloane giggled. “Let’s go inside first.“[]
They kissed like no one was watching.[]
Nova froze in place. Her eyes slowly turned red, and her heart ached–dull, numb pain, like it was being torn by a hook.]
In her memory, Kael had always been calm and self–controlled.[]
Only when he was with her did he show that unseen, softer side.
Now, he lost control over and over again–for another woman.
In the distance, after satisfying his urge, Kael put his arm around Sloane and walked inside.]]
Nova took a deep breath, then followed them–like she was punishing herself.]
At the private room door, the second Nova pressed her hand to the doorknob, she saw the scene inside, and her composure almost broke.[]}
–
Right in front of her, Kael and Sloane kissed passionately–separated only by a thin tissue.[]
“Tch, one more kiss!“]
“Kael’s such a player!“[]
A few guys teased, “Sloane, how’s Kael in bed?“]]
Sloane shrank shyly into Kael’s arms. Kael had unbuttoned a few buttons on his shirt, looking wild and unbridled. He squeezed Sloane’s hip, pulled her tighter, and glared at the others. “Enough. She’s shy.“]
“Haha, Kael–we told you to come out! Nova’s way more boring than this, right?“]
Outside the door, Nova’s hand on the doorknob trembled. Tears rolled down her cheeks, numb and cold.[]
Thus narrow doorway felt like an execution ground, judging her for her naivety.[]
Su Kael’s friends had known about his affair all along. They’d lied to her, treating her like a fool.
She couldn’t take it anymore. She turned and ran away.[
Inside the private room, when Kael heard them mention Nova, his face turned cold instantly.[]
v.“0.
“I told you–don’t bring Nova into this, especially not now.”
“And no one says a word about this to anyone. If I find out, I won’t be nice.“]]
“C’mon, we get it
But Kaels mood didn’t improve
Even when Sloane leaned in to get close to him, he seemed uninterested.]
Noya was his hue–no one was allowed to cross It.]
Nova stumbled out of the club. She leaned over a trash can and retched for a long time, tears streaming down her face.[]
It was disgusting so disgusting!
She scrubbed the hand Kael had touched earlier hard, then walked to the taxi waiting by the road []
Chapter & Leaving in Sorrow, Then He Appeared.
She slouched numbly against the backseat and said to the driver, “Don’t take me home yet. Please take me to a bar.“]
The driver glanced at her in the rearview mirror.[]
He’d seen Kael leave her side and immediately hook up with another girl–it was shocking.[]
He sighed. “Miss, all men are the same. You and your husband must’ve been married a while, right? He doesn’t seem like an unreasonable guy. Why not talk to him? Marriage is still worth fighting for.“]
Nova shook her head, the corners of her eyes tinged with red.]
“A cheating man is like rotten cabbage. Why should I settle for that?“[]
Hearing this, the driver didn’t say anything more. He took her to a bar.[]
Kael had already paid the fare–even overpaid.[]
After the driver warned her to be careful, he drove off.
Over the years, Nova had been to countless business dinners. She’d drunk red wine and white wine, and rarely got drunk.]]
Plus, she knew taekwondo–otherwise, she wouldn’t have come to a bar alone.
She ordered a Bloody Mary.
She drank alone, listening to the music.]]
Right now, only strong alcohol could make her forget those disgusting images.]]
“Beauty–drinking alone isn’t fun.“]
A man in a floral shirt sat down next to her uninvited. A playful smile tugged at his lips, and his eyes scanned her up and down–her smoky gray chiffon top, her black mermaid skirt, her curly hair falling softly over her shoulders.
She looked breathtaking.[]
Nova looked up. Her pretty peach–shaped eyes flicked to the faint white mark on his right ring finger.[]
She scoffed, “You’re married, and you still say such shameless things? Your character is worse than garbage.”
The man’s face darkened. He grabbed her wrist roughly, staring at the ring on her own ring finger.
He sneered. “Look who’s talking You’re married too, and you dress like this to fish for men at a bar? We’re the same. Take the chance–I’m giving you an out. Stop acting like a prude-]]
Nova’s eyes narrowed sharply. She lifted her foot and kicked him hard.]
While he fell to the floor, she turned and ran.]
“Tuck
The man spat, then got up and chased her, ignoring the pain.]
Nova walked quickly toward the exit. As she turned a corner, she crashed into a solid, warm body–soft against hard. It hurt.]
“Ah
Nova held her nose, wincing. She smelled a clean, sharp scent []
Then, a heavy hand suddenly fell on her shoulder()
A derp, cold voice sounded above her. “Are you okay?“]
Nova fought back the pain, waved her hand, and tried to walk past him–she didn’t even look at his face.[]
Just then, a rough yell came from behind “You stop right there! That kick-
His words died off the second he saw the tall, imposing man standing next to Nova]]
He pointed at Nova, sneering
Chapter 8 Leaving in Sorrow. Then He Appeared…
“Tch! I knew you weren’t a good girl! You hooked up with another guy that fast!“]
Nova’s face turned cold. She was about to speak-
But the man was kicked to the ground by a bodyguard, groaning in pain.[]
The bar manager rushed over. When he saw Corin Thorne, his heart skipped a beat.[]
“Mr. Thorne! I’m so sorry for the trouble. I’ll get him out of here right away.“[]
Mr. Thorne?]]]
Nava had never heard of this name in New York.]
She couldn’t help but look up at him.[]
His flawless side profile was cold and handsome. He wore a custom black suit, tall and straight. His Windsor knot was tied neatly at his neck, and every move exuded nobility
Corin narrowed his eyes and sneered.[]
Your staff dare to act like this–isn’t that your fault as a manager? If I didn’t know better, I’d think you run a brothel, not a bar.“]
Hearing this, the manager broke out in a cold sweat. He didn’t dare meet Corin’s eyes.[]
Tfix this right away! It won’t happen again! I promise…”
Then he turned to Nova. “Is this your girlfriend, Mr. Thorne? We’re so sorry for the mistake. Tonight’s drinks are on the house–how’s that?“]
Both Corin and Nova froze.
“No! You’re misunderstanding!” Nova hurried to deny. “I’ll pay.
for my drinks myself.”
As the spoke, she rummaged through her bag for her phone. But she couldn’t find it no matter how hard she looked.[]
Nova frowned.
Only Kael had touched her bag earlier. Could it be that he’d taken her phone?]
Why?
A thought hit her, and she suddenly stopped rummaging.[]
Kael had taken her phone to delete the photo of Sloane…]
But hadn’t he thought about what would happen if she got into danger and had no phone to call for help?]
In an instard, a nux of emotions–sweet, sour, bitter, spicy–flooded Nova’s chest.]
The manager looked confused “Miss?“]
Nove snapped back to reality. She composed herself, embarrassed. “Manager, I lost my phone. I can’t pay right now. How about this–I’ll leave my ID here and pay you
DORTOW
“Put it on my tab,” Coria spoke suddenly.
Nova felt awkward. She bat her hip and glanced at hun secretly []
He looked cold and indifferent, like it didn’t matter. It seemed this amount of money was nothing to him–just a random favor:[]
“Thank you,” Nova sald only. “Can you give me your contact info7 til pay you back later.“[]
